That's what I've heard. I wanted to apply under a BSE but I didn't have a good reason nor time for the extra essay so I went undecided.

It's odd though, normally it's harder to get in under engineering.

I think its because they figure most engineers would apply early to MIT or some comprable school, not princeton. I applied for aeronautical engineering, which is pretty rare. I have a lot of experience with aeronautics so hopefully that helps. The extra essay was very straight forward for me, I basically just told it like it is. Said what ive done and why I like to do it basically.

I'm shooting myself now, b/c thats what my counselor told me and I was even debating engineering... and then i ddnt.. boo

ps. stanford essays suck majorly at the moment (i know this is a princeton forum... but do you think applying for engineering at stanford will help me if i'm a girl?!)

unfortunately the whole engineering thing is working against me even though i am in a completely unrelated field. another girl in my school is applying ed for the BSE. therefore she has majorly increased chances. so we will see how it plays out but the BSE factor is making me super nervous.

I essentially said similar things, but in the "Nations" and the extracurricular elaboration essays. Thus when I came to the BSE one, anything else would have been redundant. Fortunately, my multilingual skills make me a decent AB candidate as well, so I listed a few related minors as certificates.

But yeah, aren't the straightforward, "this question was designed for me" essays the best?

qtpy - only apply for engineering if your EC's and course history support it.

Yes agreed. They want to see how you have shown you want to pursue a specified major. So how much is BSE given preference?

yea i heard if you are a girl applying for the BSE program, it will give you an advantage, not sure how they consider guys
hopefully it will help, i applied for EE

... 2200 is pretty competitive,, isnt it?

2 got into Princeton through QB, not sure how many Princeton QB applicants there were.

Multiply that by a factor of FIVE and you'll be closer to the truth. Idle speculation is a dangerous game.

well i have a 2190... boo, 800 in math2 790 in Chem, 5 in AP Chem and Calc AB, all As in math...and have taken bio, chem, apbio, apchem, h.physics, physio at stanford... and would be leaning towards Chem engineering.

I have no ec's for engineering though... (my dad is one? )haha i dunno

would it hurt me if i applied bse to schools then..since i havent Discovered anything or have a GREAT interest in a particular area?

ahhhhhh like everyone else, i want my decision NOW. i told my friends and family that i won't be surprised if i don't get in, but i'll definitely be sad. ): what i want most right now is a decision. aughh the torture!

for RD, i finished usc (still need to work on scholarship stuff though) and my uc applications. i finished everything on stanford except the long essay, which i really really don't want to write, and i'm not even touching the other ones until after dec. 15.
