I can dry about 4 at the same time. I just fit the openings over the “grass blades” and they stand upside down to dry. I like it because it doesn’t drip on my counter. But I do think the mug tree and hacks like skewers arranged in a cup of beans may work better for drying as it holds the openings higher up.
I sometimes use boxes and plastic food trays for drawer dividers. (LOL, not as many small shoeboxes around as when kids are small. And… I still have a few of those diaper wipe plastic containers that were too good to throw away.).
One trick I tried last week was a large paper bag in lower cupboard. It has a miscellaneous collection of food trays, take-out containers etc. The kind of stuff that is helpful when sending food home with my kid or holiday meals to the neighbor. It happens to be in a slide out bin (ie gives higher “walls”), but it could work on a shelf.
I wouldn’t doubt it’s out of stock due to the blog post I posted - this Instagram account has 815K followers - often times what they feature sells out!
Here are before and after pics of my spices. SO much more space efficient with the Lazy Susans!! Now, the top ones are up high, so I need to think through how to best arrange them. Alphabetically seems obvious, but I am thinking most frequently to least frequently used from bottom to top might be best. I do think the lips on these are a nice feature, but you can see those impair the visibility of the spice label on the McCormick brand. As I use up and replace those bottles, I will be more mindful to choose ones that indicate type at the top of the jar.
These are 10” in diameter. My cabinet was not deep enough to accommodate ones (same brand) that are 12”. However, I kind of appreciate the fact that there is still some space to the sides of them.
FYI the black version of this is only 17.99! Much less than the white version. Since I will fold it up and store it when not in use I went ahead and ordered one. Thanks @GRITS80 !!
One thing that works for me is having one that is just for “baking spices” so allspice, cinnamon, ginger, etc. plus all of the extracts like almond or vanilla. If you bake more (or less) than you cook, that helps determine which goes up high.
Based on my MIL’s kitchen before I was married, I’ve always separated sweet/baking and savory. Now that hubby cooks more, our semi-organized (but still adequate) method breaks that rule sometimes. It is a combo of baskets and holders than can be pulled out and put on the counter. Being short, I like that.
I honestly rarely bake. I am GF, and yes, I know one can bake using GF flours, but I try to not bake so I don’t have tempting goodies around the house (GF or otherwise!).
That’s so funny. We are all so different. I thought the baggie thing was dumb. I can fit so much more in my drawer that what they show there. I have it set up so all the boxes fit tightly. If I buy a non-standard size box or a Costco size box, I put the baggies, wrap whatever into the empty box in my drawer.
I think her point about small lazy-Susans is a good one. I’ve got a couple of cupboards that could use something like that.
I just can’t wrap my brain around the special holders for… water bottles. How many people do they have in that house that they need a holder for those multiple bottles? We have 2 people… have exactly 2 water bottles. We drink water out of regular cups when we are at home.
I must admit we have a few! Different sizes and features! Less now than when we had kids at home (and all the freebie ones they would get) - but I still have my tall car one, my one that infuses flavor, my smaller one for short hikes…
