Mollusks are everywhere though…

It’s because they’re so darn cute that no one wants to eat them. And so they’re slowly taking over the world.

It’s because they’re so darn cute that no one wants to eat them. And so they’re slowly taking over the world.

What? I eat mollusks …

^^Hmm…personally, I believe beetles will fill that role lol

Mollusks need saving now!

Pandas have nothing on these awesome mollusks, I’m sorry.

^Impressive. How many Google pages did you have to go through before finally finding a sketch link?

hahaha. Sorry niki. I love mollusks. But pandas are hotter.

^Heyy. First page :0 google “save the mollusks” (5th link :p)

Hotter…as in they produce more body heat?

okay:

Guys we can do this! Fix the image of mollusks! Try this: Pick them up and place them next to your cheek gently…aka cuddling. Then smile :)

So what if they’re hard on the outside? They’re still soft in the inside! awww

But the thing is that when people imagine mollusks, they have an almost pastoral image of an old clam gently breathing out bubbles as if smoking a pipe. These kinds of romanticized, bivalve-centric images won’t do anymore. We need equal treatment for bivalves, snails, even octopi! Octopi are cute, right?

Octopi are adorable! I agree haha

This has been discussed in this thread.

I’m not sure. I just know that if anything is enabled to survive, it will be beetles.(as mentioned before) I’m not sure many people would find them to be cute though lol

The point about letting pandas die is that we can save other USEFUL species and concentrate on their problems. 90% of the panda population problems are caused BY THE PANDAS THEMSELVES. They are too big for their children and rarely one survives, which is why they are starting to use in vitro fertilization in order to have baby pandas…

The system just doesn’t work, the pandas shouldn’t survive, we are forcing them to because they are “cuddly and cute”, but they also do nothing but defecate 24/7 and eat…

Pandas are not cuddly and cute. I got my ass beat by one in Tekken.

Pandas are evil. And apparently have a thing for glowing pink bracelets.

SAVE THE PANDAS!

I think in essence, he is right. Amphibians are going extinct rather quickly too, but people don’t seem as fond of frogs and salamanders. Pandas look cute, but they can be aggressive and dangerous. Not as cuddly/friendly as they appear.

It’s like some people who think owls look cute and are pet material, well sure maybe they are until they bite the crap out of you. When you’re getting your hand clenched by 8 taloned toes I’m sure it’ll change your mind. I volunteer with a raptor program and handle birds of prey, but we aren’t supposed to really touch them unless absolutely necessary. You can’t stroke the birds, they don’t like it.

Also, bald eagles look majestic, but they are incredibly lazy hunters. They use their larger size and strength to bully smaller birds like ospreys and take their fish. Bald eagles won’t expend the energy unless they have to. Not exactly noble behavior.

Sorry how my post turned into a rant about animal stereotypes, but it’s been bugging me lately and this thread seemed a good place to release my pent up irritation.

While pandas are intrinsically important, I hate how people glorify some animals and disdain/have no compassion for others. Which is basically the issue with support of endangered species.
