letes straighten out this common app word limit thing once and for all

OK...i read the common app stuff, and couldn't find anything on a max limit. HOWEVER some colleges (stanford for example) state this

Candidates must choose one topic and respond. Responses must be at least 250 words but should not exceed the space provided (approximately one page).

but all i see is an "upload document" button, with no "space" to enter the essay. please clarify

thanks!

btw, my essay is around 620 words right now, within a page, but i want to expand it like 30 words

yes, i realize i spelled "lets" wrong in the thread title

Mine was slightly longer than one page, single-spaced, for Stanford.

I highly doubt it will be held against me

lol idk if i'll apply to stanford. i was just using it as an example. did you apply early decision lolcats4?

yes, I applied EA

So, when colleges say essays must be one page, they mean single-spaced, correct?

do they?...

of course they mean 1 page.
double spaced 1 page essays can't possibly convey the writer's intentions.

um i hate to turn this into a manipulation school paper thing, but what about the margins? can we shrink them to fit on one page?
