Let's discuss the December 2013 SAT!

Iceykeh: hello! Thank you so much! For the duck section, i forgot but are you sure that there was only the passage about the duck? Like one long passage?

I think so(only I think)I remember the duck one has lots of questions.
because I remember the section consists of two single passages and a long passage. Because the section with a pair of short consists two single passages and a pair of long, and the duck one also has two short, so。

You know how the sphinx section had a passage on sphinx and telescope?

Did the duck section have it on just ducks or?

for us students, in the long grammar section, what was the question about bulls? it was like this bull is the greatest of all cattle or something, was that sentence correct?

Yes that’s true. For international test, the duck is the experimental section.

BTW, anyone remember the SC qn that has the answer trifling? Might got that wrong…

And there is one PP qn (higher eduction). Something like psg2 thinks the critics making a basic mistake are deeply rooted in a particular routine vs. focus on one part of a problem.
Which one do you think is the correct answer??

Candicesz how do you know? X

Can you rephrase the question please?

I said no error. “strongest and most powerful” seemed correct.IDK if they wanted us to change strongest to most strong for parallelism.

did anyone else have an extremely hard math section ( US version)
i found the section with the triangle and rectangle figure that was divided into four plots of land, very hard. im pretty decent in math but i didnt answer half of those questions.
aah

I’am sure that the second CR section includes the Sphinx and telescope, and the duck one has more than 10 questions; in that case, the section can only have one long passage,so it may be the experimental.
Actually, when I read the duck section, I felt disheartening. Hope it is the dummy one.

I didn’t remember the trifling(SC part) one, so I think I got wrong too. Who remember the question about this?

@Satdone
I felt like the duck passage was unSAT when I was taking the test, because it contained some many questions that do not have any line reference. (I still completed it anyway. Not 100 percent sure at that time) then when I figured out I had 4 CR, I was quite sure. I also went to the June 2013 thread after the test :)

The higher eduction psg2 thinks the critics (mentioned in 2 paragraph) made a basic mistake because they equate education with in-class lessons or something. The qn was based on these critics: what does psg2 think of these critics. Possible choices 1) are deeply rooted in a particular routine 2) focus on one part of a problem.

Which one do you think is correct? I had the second… struggled for a long time.

oh that one! I put focus on one part of a problem as well! :)

do you know anyone who took the same test but got only 3 critical reading sections?
For the grandmother section, did you get bully to characterize the grandma and close attention for another question?

Yeap for the grandmother passage, I put bully.

The grandmother passage was so easy compared to the duck/sphinx passages.

Agreed! pumpkin, do you know anyone who took the same test but got only 3 critical reading sections?

What would a 3-4 wrong on CR get me (no omits)? Do you guys think the curve will be harsh this time?

I really hope I will get above 750!!!

@SATdone21212: No, sorry

I know that 5-6 wrong is a 720 so if you get 3 wrong, I think 750-760.

for the higher education one, I put “focus on one part of a problem”. coz I think the key parts of the two possible questions are “routine” and “one part”,for"routine", I cannot find the similar expression in the passage, no matter it is adj or noun; but for “one part” I remember there’s something but I cannot remember clearly now.

Do anybody remember the question about telescope, asking a successful observer should do what but not what?
I remember two options:
A.……any given chance task but not focus on a specific goal
B.keep slow pace with astronomy but not learn quickly

Is there a way to find out for SURE which is the experimental section?

You got the higher education correct, and I think I put A for the second one, because B is off text.
