Let's get something going here!

My D is applying to C of C regular decision. From the northeast, and would love some info about life in general in Charleston and at the college, specifically.

My D applied early action by November 1 but has not heard anything yet. One of her friends who was recruited for soccer has been accepted already.

Charleston is a great place to live. The food is pretty good and the shopping is nice, though a bit pricey sometimes. Definitely not as many options as a big city, but a very friendly place overall.

My d is a junior and she is very interested in c of c. We will be visiting during her spring break. I hope that it will not be the same week as spring break for c of c. She would like to meet someone in the education dept. Does anyone have any info on the ed dept?

I applied EA but haven't heard back from admissions yet.

Neither has my D. Please post when you receive your decision

Looks like we are in!

Here are my stats

Minnesota
ACT: 28
GPA: 3.45

D applied regular decision, changed her mind, and called admissions after early action closed and asked to be considered early. She just got her acceptance!
ACT:26
GPA:3.8
Did people get merit scholarships along with admissions letters?

D was early action. 1150 SAT, 3.6 GPA, top 25% of the class, non-SC resident. We're very glad she got in don't know if she would have made it RD. I think they notify about scholarships after January 15. Congrats to all!

Congrats to everyone getting in!! About Charleston, I've been in the city quite a bit and I LOVE it, I would be happy to spend 4 years there. To me, it's big enough to have pretty much everything you need but yet small enough that small town people (like me!) don't feel overwhelmed. To be honest, I feel safer walking around Charleston than I do walking around our little one horse town in Ohio!

I just heard back yesterday! I got in as well! Were scholarships announced with acceptances or do we find out later if we get them? Where is everybody from who got in?

Congrats to all!
S admitted EA to Honors College. SAT 1380, 3.7 GPA, top 10% of class, non-SC resident. We're looking forward to campus visit and waiting to hear on merit scholarships.

I received scholarship info on Christmas Eve, about a week after I found out I was accepted at the Honors College. Received the Presidential Scholarship (full tuition), very excited-- C of C is at the top of my list!!!

33 ACT
3.9 GPA
Rank 25 out of 397 (top 10%)
Non-SC resident

Anyone with info on living arrangements? What's the most popular residence hall?

Accepted-Regular Decision
Stats:
SAT: 740 M/690 CR/680 W
GPA: 4.0 unweighted
Out of State

Awarded Presidential Scholarship for full tuition. Haven't heard from the Honors College yet.

Haven't visited yet.

Have they sent out all merit based scholarships now?

I didn't apply here, simply because I live in Charleston (Have for my whole life), and I want to go somewhere new.

I just decided to glance around here, and thought I might be of some use. Like I said I am not a student or future-student, so questions about the college specifically are out. If you have any questions about Charleston or the Charleston metropolitan area (there is ALOT to do in Charleston, not just downtown near the campus) feel free to ask!

I just checked our records and my daughter's scholarship letter was dated Feb 1 last year so you may still get something. I will send positive thoughts your way!

I checked with the college earlier this week. They stated that word on merit scholarships would be released on 01 FEB.

SFODKevin - Thanks for your willingness to answer questions. D is from Boston, so we assume that going to college in Charleston will be a little bit of a culture shock, but how much? How long is the winter? What is the area of Charleston like right around the college? Is the college all spread out around Charleston or centralized in one area? Is the campus a "typical" campus in terms of how it looks? Is it a pretty clean area? The academic info we can find online, but it's hard to get any answers on the campus stuff without having been there. Any feedback is much appreciated!
