Let's get to Know each other Better! [Epic Thread]

I don’t care if people drink. I care when underage people drink. There’s a freaking law that says you can’t drink unless you’re 21 or older. Respect the damn law. =p

“social lubricant” :)

lol

Sigh, this thread.

I:I

behave children.

Hey CrushOnYou when school starts maybe I can take you out to a drink or 12 sometime??

For the last 2 years, we’ve had a meet up in the dining halls during zero week. Do you guys want to do that again?

Such a law does not exist in California. Persons under 21 cannot purchase alcohol. It’s illegal for those over 21 to supply alcohol to people under 21. But there’s nothing that says people under 21 cannot consume it, given that it’s in a private location.

So if you’re under 21 and some alcohol magically appeared in your hand from the alcohol fairy, you are legally allowed to drink it behind closed doors. ;)

VTECaddict is correct on the facts:

http://alcoholpolicy.niaaa.nih.gov/stateprofiles/StateProfie.asp#UACN

However, even if someone under 21 is not explicitly prohibited from consuming alcohol, someone else who bought the alcohol is violating the law by providing it a minor.

Personally, I am against underage drinking. I think it is very easy for people to get addicted to alcohol, which makes some people lose their values.

Thank you VTECaddict for correcting me.
and thank you BoelterHall for adding to VTECaddict’s correction.

Anyone got an answer to my aforementioned question of are there any reasons other than “everyone else is doing it” and “i like to feel woozy” for drinking alcohol at all?

can you please not drag this thread on, there is no need. Drink if you want, dont if its not the thing for you. Drinking just makes everything funner…everything

nodnarb, youre freaking annoying and stupid. your #2 is so broad that it covers basically every reason people gave in this thread. people have said it makes them more social, makes things more interesting, makes celebrating more fun, allows them to relax, lower inhibitations, etc all because of the “woozy” feeling.

jesus christ. what the hell are you looking for us to say? there might be other reasons to drink (it tastes good sometimes as someone said), but feeling tipsy is just about the only reason.

Are you done having a tantrum on a god damn internet forum? Very mature, and thanks for the kind remarks.

I guess I just don’t accept the desire to temporarily **** up your brain so that you’re acting bizarrely (woozy) as a good reason for drinking. I guess I just don’t understand such a widespread desire to feel artificially ‘better’ for entertainment purposes. But evidently that is biggest reason for drinking, as you have made abundantly clear. So I’ll leave it at that. (And I do not think less of anyone who drinks, I just am trying to understand a phenomenon.)

youre right, it is infantile. i didnt even drink much my freshman year, but i will still drink if the situation is right. most people, however, do not continue drinking to get “drunk” as they get older and settle down. once im a real adult, im certainly not going to do any party drinking, so why not try some right now? it doesnt affect my health or my academics…you will just be missing out if you choose not to drink at all. it is most definitely fun to drink with a bunch of good friends…

Leave him be Zzz, grab a beverage instead.

Well, I certainly think we’re getting to know each other better! :p

we should just meet up and partay~

CC meetup with alcohol? guess nodnarb’s not coming

partay in what way?

Beirut anyone?
