Let's just say I'm part of a different demographic.

Everyone here, with their perfect GPAs and 2400 SATs - to be fair, it makes me cringe. Not in spite but more in envy.

Chance me, I'm regular. Dominican (mom immigrated here) & Israeli (which, yes, means I'm Jewish) background from New York, second-generation college student.

GPA: 82/100 unweighted, school doesn't do weighted. Improved every year (74 freshman, 78 sophomore, 86 junior), lots of stuff happened at home and now I'm on anti-depressants and, to be honest, high school didn't really motivate me. Guess I deserve whatever I get then.

Courseload: all available honors classes in all three years, all AP classes offered in junior year, plan to take all AP courses available in senior year.

SAT I: 1770 (600 CR/590 M/580 W), plan to take again
SAT II: 610 Lit, 600 US history

In terms of extracurriculars, I've been a member of the debate team since freshman year and I'll be captain this year, I've interned at the New York Supreme Court in Brooklyn for a summer under a judge and will be working at Barnes and Noble this summer, I've contributed to the Literary Magazine and I work part-time as a web designer.

I'd like to major in English.

So... I have a few places I'd like to go to. Boston University is my first choice. I'll do CGS, whatever, I just love the atmosphere, the city, etc. (toured BU during sophomore year). I know it's an extreme long shot, but I'd like to know my chances.

Other schools that intrigue me:
Penn State-University Park
New York University (General Studies)
Northeastern
Michigan State University
Loyola Marymount
Loyola University Chicago
Goucher College
SUNY Albany
SUNY Stony Brook
SUNY New Paltz
University of Delaware
University of Maryland-College Park

Thanks. But what about my resume makes you feel comfortable that I could get into NEU or PSU-UP for example

I think the biggest issue is whether or not you need money. Your private schools are mostly not need blind and easier by far if you don't need aid. The OOS publics only give aid to top OOS candidates. As a full pay you have a chance at BU if you can raise the SAT a little.

kick NYU and penn state out. you will have no chance w/o ranking or a weighted gpa like that

That GPA is unweighted.

yeah, I think it will tough at PSU and NYU for the same reasons that kunnel was saying. PSU-UP's decision is 2/3 based on grades. I still think you have a good shot at both though. Otherwise, I think allday's list was right on.
