Let's make our own "prestige ranking"

i agree mostly with golubb_u rankings
except cornell isnt that well known as a great school is it

i agree with kosuke

Here on the East Coast, I don't think Stanford impresses as many people as Harvard, Yale, MIT, or Princeton does. And Caltech is hardly even known.

I agree with kosuke all the way too.

Hold up!. This thread is referring to the "presitge ranking" of colleges, yet you somehow believe this is directly related to "how good" a school is (hence your justifcation of putting LACs at the bottom because "LACs are not a good as unis"). think.

ivybound1010 ....your right, Cornell is better than umich but im biased bc my whole family has gone to Umich and i live right near ann arbor and will be attending next fall.....and i forgot dartmouth in my rankings, it would be around 9th or 10th

agreed....mostly. although I question how good many ivies are in comparison to other schools in terms of undergraduate experience(such as columbia). I think that Dartmouth/Princeton possibly Harvard have the greatest concentration on undergrad.

I'll say it again. Do not confuse "prestige" with the quality of the school!!!. It is asinine ,taking a sheep mentality and is NOT the topic of discussion.

personally I think Harvard has the LEAST concentration on undergrad of all the Ivies, but I agree with Dartmouth/Princeton having the most (Yale is a close third).

College_hopeful, actually I should not have said Harvard as I really don't know much about it, however I have researched Dartmouth and Princeton much more.

Harvard

Stanford

Yale

Princeton

MIT

Caltech

Columbia

Dartmouth

UPenn

Brown

Duke

Cornell

Berkeley

Allow me to make up my own list.

Harvard

Yale

Princeton

MIT

Stanford

Caltech

Columbia

UPenn

Cornell

Brown

Dartmouth

Duke

Williams

Chicago

J. Hopkins

Northwestern

Rice

Washington U in St. Louis

Why do all of you ignore Princeton when it has alternately been ranked the best university alongside with harvard by the U.S. News???

columbia for some reason is not that prestigious on the rankings (top 3 or so) but its always ranked that high in hardest ivy to get into - i saw it on some other threads

i believe colubmia should be up there idk maybe just cuz im from the city

ivybound1010, if that is not the stupidest user name I've ever heard of.

thanks a lot @s.shol.e
oh i mean texas "mathwhiz" rofl

even though princeton is ranked as the top school a number of times, it cant touch harvard/yale/mit/stanford in prestige. majority of people just dont know princeton is that good =P

prestigious:
1. Umiami
2. USC
3. maybe stanford, but i doubt it.

internationally
1. harvard, stanford
2. yale, mit, princeton
3. berkeley, penn, dartmouth, brown, cornell

My own prestige ranking (on behalf of Science stream elite students LOL!!):
1. Harvard
2. MIT/Caltech
3. Stanford
4. Princeton
5. Berkeley
6. Yale
7. Cornell
8. the rest

you think cornell is more prestigious than the top liberal arts colleges? that's interesting
