Schools like ours, UCI, and UCSB aren’t anyones first choice. We all go to these schools because we were rejected by better schools. I know when UCLA and UCSD rejected me, and I had to go to Davis, I was bummed. Lets stop pretending how proud we are, when we aren’t.

Dude sorry to disappoint you with your rejection theory, BUT I turned down UCSD and UCSB for UCD. I want to go to a school with spirit and football! UCSD sucks.

thank you vtboy!

It's going to be what you make it to be. Have a bad time if you want, at the end of it, you'll just have yourself to blame.

Gawd, you are in college...COLLEGE! Try having freeeeking responsibility and all the other baggage middle age brings. I don't care if you are at craphole tech, you should be able to have a good time. Wake up, buckwheat. Enjoy your experiences.

You speak the truth but the fact remains that Davis is one of the 50 best colleges in the nation, bar none. That means if we work hard enough, Davis has the power to open the same doors for us that any higher ranked school can. Its all what we make of it, Davis can provide all the opportunities but we have to take them..

I got into every UC I applied to (and I applied to all of them except Riverside)... but I still chose to come to Davis. I like the town :) I don't do big cities, the suburban feel is much more pleasing to me. A friend of mine from high school got into Stanford and still came to Davis. So yeah, sorry but some people actually chose to come here, it wasn't just a last resort.

If you chose this school over UCLA, CAL, or UCSD then you are a fool

lol
I should've applied to UCLA and UCSD.

Jesus Christ this board has such a woody over what some magazine ranks their college at. Maybe I like the chill atmosphere of Davis better than Cal? Maybe I hate LA? Maybe Sd is too far from home?

The only fools are the ones who submitted their SIR to a college they didn't want to go to. You are also a fool if you feel compelled to make threads denouncing others decisions on what college they want to attend based purely on a magazine ranking.

This board would be 1000000000x better if people would stop with the [school] vs. [school] crap when its not application time and focused more on valid questions regarding stuff such as housing where others can help them. Its college, live it up and enjoy yourself while getting an education.

Dude you can have UCSD, really it is all yours. How many ways can you spell DULL? The sports there suck, (no football) the classes are taught by professors you can't understand due to their thick accents. The dorms bite. La Jolla is ridiculously expensive and has a stranglehold on the UC. When you are forced to go live off campus you will have a 20 minute drive to look forward to whenever you want to be on the campus since the nearby housing in not affordable. UCSD is not at all easily accessible by plane. The chicks cause Triton-eye. It is akin to a police state, so good luck having even a low-key party in your dorm. I could go on and on. Dude it is all yours, have fun. (or at least try to)

You are incredibly ignorant if you think the academics at UCD are in any way inferior.

Maybe you are not proud to be an aggie but I am. It so happens that I was accepted to higher ranked schools then Davis. People attend different schools for different reasons. After talking to all my friends about which college they will be attending, I figured out that giving a school a rank is useless. Because they cant factor in different variables for different situations. For me, Davis was my first choice because its close to home and they offered me the most financial aid. I feel bad for you, since you really dont want to go to Davis...and if you didnt work hard enough to get into your first choice then its just too bad for you. I dont wanna be mean but getting into UCLA and UCSD isnt that hard so just...Deal dont be bummed.

Go Ags!
Go Ags!

Be proud.

There's always graduate school?

Not everyone cares about sports as much as you do. Really, we get that you like college football. Stop posting about it. Judging by the fact that significantly more apps were sent UCSD's way than UCD's, i'd gather quite a few really don't mind the lack of college football.

The professors i've had so far have been outstanding. A lot of them really went out of their way to be available and help us out. I've heard that a lot of UD professors have accents, but throughout my first year, i've only had one teacher with an accent.

The dorms bite.

Actually the dorms are quite nice. Revelle's dorms (the oldest) aren't pretty, but they are pretty big. Everyone at SD lives in suites, which is awesome. I heard every other college at SD had better dorms than Revelle too (bastards). Oceanview dorms don't hurt.

Can't argue with the truth. Living by the beach with beautiful scenery isn't cheap.

It's too bad we don't have a frat row, but I'm not sure how else la jolla might have a "stranglehold" on ucsd.

Nearby housing is expensive, I can't lie. I'm not so sure about the "20 minute drive" line, but i can't really comment on that yet.

UCSD is not at all easily accessible by plane.
I know some people that fly to and from ucsd. It's a ~20 min drive from the airport to sd. Isn't Sacramento airport a similar distance?

The chicks cause Triton-eye.
This really is overdone on these boards. It really is. There are plenty of cute girls. It's not heaven, but it's not hell by any means.

It is akin to a police state, so good luck having even a low-key party in your dorm.
Our suite was pretty quiet, but i've seen some things on just our floor alone. For one, the smoke detectors, like any, are easily disabled (heh). We'd sometimes get invitaitons to check out a suite nearby for these "low-key parties" you're talking about. Dude, the RAs only come by once a day two days out of the week. You act like the school isn't full of 18-22 y/o students.

I could go on and on. Dude it is all yours, have fun. (or at least try to)
Please don't "go on and on" about a topic you clearly know little about. My first year was awesome, but you don't see me trolling the boards trying to convince everyone (and myself) that I had fun. We get that you like college football. Understand this: we don't care.

You are incredibly ignorant if you think the academics at UCD are in any way inferior.

Both schools are excellent institutions. UCSD is better at some things, UCD is better at some times. Overall, i'm sure everyone but those affiliated with UCD would agree that UCSD is superior.

If you feel that you're "winning one" for the UCD camp, please stop. You really come accross as an ass when you constantly try to justify your choice to attend UCD.

Sure, UCI, UCSD, UCD, etc.. may not be everyone's first choice, but really, who gets into their first choice?

Look at the elites....do you think Cornell, or Brown is everyone's first choice? I am sure they would have liked to have been accepted to Harvard or Princeton.

Look at all the kids who go out of state from California, like Boulder, U of A, etc.. is that there first choice? Probably not, but the are very proud of their school.

Just because you dont get into your first choice, it doesnt mean you can't have a lot of pride. UCD is a great school and students who get in should be proud of that accomplishment and for all the school has to offer.

I love UCD, I hate that the fin. aid people put me on hold all the time and are screwing me over financially.

But I love UCD.

Overall, i'm sure everyone but those affiliated with UCSD would agree that UCD is superior.

If you feel that you're "winning one" for the UCSD camp, please stop. You really come across as an ass when you constantly try to justify your choice to attend UCSD.

Oh and did I mention that UCD has the superior football team over UCSD? (oops almost forget that UCSD has no football team)

Go Ags!

Cute reply. Unfortunately, you've shown how immature you really are. I haven't gone so low as to insult another school like you have, I was merely stating facts and correcting your disinformation. Maybe you'll see that your posts reflect poorly on UCD. Have a nice day.

I for one appreciate the absence of insults chowdy.

UCSD is a great school, so is UCD.

As was stated earlier, VTBoy, you are a moron. How did you get into UCD? ;)

I got into LA, Cal, and SD, and still went to Davis. Please speak for your ignorant self.
