Chowdy dude you have no sense of humor whatsoever. Stop coming on these boards acting like UCSD is Harvard because of some lame ass ratings. Those of us who reject UCSD etc. have our own good reasons. In most cases more well thought out than the rankings touted by you and your ilk. I have been to the UCSD campus on five visits including overnight stays. I have been to parties, games and classes dude. My opinion (I am entitled to have one) is based on my own observations. I have done the same at several other UC's. The differences are mostly in what environment you want. I'm glad I ignored the stupid rankings and went off of my personal experiences instead. I hope for your sake and the sake of the rest of the ranking whores out there that you wise up and visit many schools. Don't pick a school based on rankings, go see it for yourself. See at least five schools so that you have something to compare. This is how you pick a school. Get over yourself dude, it will help you get somewhere in life. Maybe you'll see that your posts reflect poorly on you. Have a nice day.

haha, this guy ^ is still at it huh? :D

People choose colleges for different reasons and just because you felt cornered into choosing a school that was low on your list doesn't mean you should diss people who are legitimately pleased to go there.

Even tho voice goes over the top sometimes, I still love his passion for Davis. :D I was and am the same way but over my first year I've mellowed down a bit. It's people like him that bring the spirit out in all of us and we should be thankful.

Chowdy, I know how you feel man, I wouldnt like to come over to the SD forums and see people bugging out on Davis. But hey, as long as it isnt done with malicious intent and outside of these forums it should be cool, right? ;)

I actually alerted the SD kids when some clown was posting that UCSD (arguably in the most beautiful and expensive location) was in a "bad neighborhood." I have stated before that UCSD is a beautiful campus, it is just not for me, and I have excellent reasons why. I also have spirit and a sense of humor.

Megathunder I am awesome dude, and so are you.

Don't worry about where you're going to college. That process is over.

Now is the time to figure out what you want to do with your life and work toward that goal. If you want to be a doctor, lawyer, business exec. engineer, etc. you need to focus on that. Take a look at the leaders of Fortune 500 companies, top accounting firms, etc. and you won't find many Ivy league undergrads in their ranks. So, life is what you make of it.

Look at it this way, about 35% of the nation's high school grads attend college and only 17 out of 100 of those people end up getting a degree or certificate. Therefore, a very small percentage of people in the US have at least a four year college degree.

Quit complaining and get to work; the clock is ticking.

i feel ya vtboy. i too was rejected from ucb and ucla

Have fun at UCI integtypeR.^

I appreciate your words, owdi, =). Oh yea, Henry and I will have a LOT of fun :D.

jas0n dude, I hope you have a great experience at UCI. I mean this sincerely. I'm sorry you didn't get into UCD.

You and jason wouldve made good friends :p..

true, because I am awesome and so is jas0n

haha, much <3. School is coming soon! The excitement!

I'm not sure what the point of this thread is...
Each major is different at UCDavis, some may be better than those at UCSD, or UCB, or even Harvard. If you already got in, there's no point in complaining because you'll just think you're superior to all your classmates and get C's and get on academic probation. Try out Davis, I have for the last 16 years. Don't like it? Transfer.

I'm transferring because I really didn't do enough research, Davis has some good Biz/Finance recruiters but their headquarters and stuff isn't really close enough for easy internship/co-op access. That's why I'm going to apply as a transfer this year to some other universities. But my friends in Engineering/PreMed all like Davis b/c it's a very good school for that and there's A LOT of big medical related companies in Davis and Sac.

If you're a person that just sits in their dorm after doing hw, then you're not going to like it anywhere since you're going to be the same way no matter where you are.

Enjoy Davis, make new friends, and then make a decision.

School is starting soon, don't start with a bad attitude.

Sorry to the OP, but you are incorrect on this. Some students actually choose the school that best fits their needs. This may be based on educational goals, field of study, financial concerns, lifestyle concerns, or even geography.

My daughter's roommate chose UCD over UCB. Her interest is animal science and she strongly preferred the environment at UCD.

Another friend chose UCSD over UCB, initially had some regrets and did not like UCSD, but has since found herself very happy there.

Another is at UCLA because that is the only school to which she was accepted.

Can't make too many assumptions abpout what brings students to a particular university.
