Let's Play a Game: Predictions

Hey CC, so I got the idea from StudiousMaximus's thread, though I'm aware there have been similar threads in the past, to host a little game, if you will. I'll post my stats here, and for each of the colleges I'm applying to, you choose the eventual status: accepted, waitlisted, or rejected.

(Link to StudiousMaximus's thread btw: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1578874-different-kind-chance-thread-predict-me-ill-predict-back.html)

I'll post the actual results in two rounds, the early and the regular, and we'll see how CC fares.

Great stats-- I think you could get into most of these schools. You’ll have a tough time with Princeton, Harvard, MIT, Yale, and possibly Uchicago.

Thanks womanizer, but this is NOT a chance thread. I want to compare CC’s prediction of where I will or will not get accepted/waitlisted/denied with the actual results in December and March.

For sake of demonstration, I’ll repost another user’s predictions on a different thread:

"Stanford: Accepted

UPenn Jerome Fisher M&T program (Wharton backup): Rejected from M&T, Waitlisted at Wharton

^ IKR, sooo scandalous.
Lol if you feel it’s a waste of time, don’t reply.
I started this thread cause I saw someone else with this, and the idea was kind of cool. Also, regular “chance threads” are next to useless; categorizing schools as “reach” “match” and “safety” is easy and doesn’t offer much info.

Nah I just wanted to see your reaction.

With all due respect, I think too many people are overblowing your grades/scores. While they are great, they won’t get you in immediately. Most colleges would probably rather differentiate between passion/recommendations/essays/activities than they would about the difference between a 2400 SAT and a 2250 or a 3.9 vs. a 3.8.

Other than that, I don’t see a lot in your activities that stands out that much, since many of your activities are things that many, many, many other people do. Couple this with the colleges that have so many qualified applicants applying, and it’s very difficult.

Yale - reject
UPenn Jerome Fisher M&T program (Wharton backup) - not familiar with specific programs, reject from Penn
Cornell - reject
UChicago - reject
Carnegie Mellon - accept
NYU - accept
Berkeley - accept
UCLA - accept
Harvard - reject
Columbia - reject
Dartmouth - reject
Caltech - reject
MIT - reject

bump… you missed the EA colleges Toad

Princeton (SCEA) - Waitlisted
University of Michigan - Accepted
Georgia Tech - Accepted

Yale - Waitlisted

Carnegie Mellon - Accepted
NYU - Accepted
Berkeley - Accepted
UCLA - Accepted
Harvard - Rejected
Columbia - Accepted
Dartmouth - Accepted
Caltech - Accepted
MIT - Waitlisted

I’m sure you’ll be accepted into one to many of these great schools, I really just randomly picked a few as rejected/waitlisted because very few get accept into all. Good luck, although you probably won’t need it with perfect test scores and a great GPA. Perhaps we’ll be going to school together in the future.

Accepted to all except
MIT: denied
Harvard: waitlist
Princeton: waitlist

All of them accepted besides MIT. Good luck! Please get me back.
