Let's Play the College Ranking Game (Plus/Minus)

MIT should be #3. Compared to Harvard and 'furd, it has a narrower focus.

Stanford should be #2. It has great engineering programs that rival MIT’s but has more breadth and depth.

Harvard should be #1. Historically, it’s been and remains top dog. Although its engineering isn’t as strong as Stanford or MIT, Harvard has “better” professional programs.

Just my $0.02.

No voting criteria was given in the OP.

Best undergraduate education and most likely school to change the future of the world: MIT

Best professional graduate schools: Harvard

Best overall university and college experience: Stanford

Harvard 24
Stanford 23
MIT 20

+H, -M

A universal -10 would be nice. :)

In the most recent Time Higher Education ranking of universities by reputation Harvard came first, MIT second and Stanford was fifth.

[Top Universities by Reputation 2011](http://www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/world-university-rankings/2010-2011/reputation-rankings.html)

Arguably, the MIT model is the research university most emulated worldwide at the current time. Virtually every developed or developing country has coined its major science and technology university at the MIT of “…”.

Tsinghua (China)
IIT (India)
Technion (Israel)
National University (Singapore)

Even well established European universities such as Cambridge University are increasing their ties to MIT with the formation of the Cambridge-MIT Institute.

I second the universal -10!
