What's next? Do you guys apply again next year or do you just give up?

I would probably give up, if my stats right now can't make it; I'll just have to wait for grad school before applying to some of these schools again.

Hi Dupes,
When you applied did you apply to any safety schools? One of the most important things to remember in transfer admissions is that if you positively CANNOT stay at your current school, you have to apply to a safety. If you didn’t do that, do you think there are ways in which you could make your experience at your current school better?
Think about Spring Semester applicants - if it was really this bad, choose a wider range of schools and apply for next Spring - they usually let you know pretty early too.
There is also the option of applying to a Visiting Students program. If you are worried about your GPA or just worried about staying in general, there are schools such as Boston University and Cornell that offer you to come and stay at their school for a semester or two, with the intention to return to your school afterwards. However, I know many students who have done a Visiting Students program to get out of their school, and spent that time getting their grades up and getting involved so that they could transfer to another school afterwards. It’s just an option, but it’s not for everyone. It’s a lot of changing which might not be what you are looking for.
Something else to think about is taking a semester/year off? Travel, get a job, do an internship, take some time to find yourself.
The important thing is finding happiness. If you aren’t happy at your current school, don’t give up! Happiness can be found in a school that some might consider awful while students can hate an experience at an Ivy League - it’s different for each person.
Good luck and keep up hope - transfers are just starting to find out!

GOD FORBID it doesn’t work out. I will be soooo upset and will be forced to go to school in my hometown. It wouldn’t be terrible to go there, but I’d hate to be forced to go there because I didn’t get in to Cornell and can’t stay where I am right now. I’m gonna pray I get in there.

I would keep trying to transfer at a backup school. It all depends on your desire to the university you really want to transfer to.

drop out and start business

If I don’t get into Boston University, then I will apply again next year. It is something I really want to do and in the end it will happen for me. Hopefully you have a similar mentality.

Apply to Cornell and Colgate for Spring transfer, or just stay here.
