Courses:Took all AP courses offered + dual enrollment.(AP Computer Science, AP Chemistry, AP Calculus AB) 3 AP’s (4 is the maximum, I didn’t want to take AP Stats - too easy), Linear Algebra, Calculus 2, Calculus 3, Engineering Physics Mechanics, Engineering Physics Electricity and Magnetism, Engineering Physics Waves, English 101 and Political Science in dual enrollment.
School: A really low performing school.
SAT: 2050 superscored; (630 CR 800M 620W)/1430 CR+ M - My school averages a 1300 on the SAT, not sure how this will affect the weight. Low by collegeconfidential’s standards… Sorry guys not my fault I didn’t have private tutors!
SAT II’s: Chinese w/ Listening: 800, Math Level 2: 780(Careless mistakes, rushed through the test on 4 hours of sleep)
EC’s:
-President/founder of computer science club
-President/founder of finance club
-1 Varsity sport(not recruited)
-Worked a job for over 2+ years(contributed all my earnings to my family)
-200+ hours of community services
-Network security research with University of Washington’s CSE department
-Managed a 20k portfolio averaging 12% returns(started from 8k)
-Math and sciences tutor at my local community college(only high school student tutor).
Rec’s are 9/10 at best but probably going to be an 8.(I wasn’t a teachers pet)
Hooks: First-generation college student, Low income, Upward bound, had a job for 2+years(?)
Personal statement/supplementals are very good. (Talked about poverty and how I overcame them while excelling in school.)
Additional: UC Berkeley asked me for recommendation letters, I submitted as many as I could. UCLA asked me for supplemental review (asked me for 2 additional essays and 1st semester grades) submitted all. 1st sem GPA was 3.9 unweighted/4.4 weighted
