Why? This is just kind of ridiculous, I think. There’s 631 ED acceptances and anywhere from 100-300~ likelies. Just a waste of time and makes RD applicants anxious.

I totally agree. Why are we doing this? I think this topic has been covered elsewhere. It’s mean-spirited, but mainly, it’s unnecessary.
We realize you are very proud of yourself, Pigs. Try and be humble. And empathic toward those people who are still dealing with uncertainty and anxiety with respect to where they may end up next Fall.

My goodness, I intended this thread to be for people who have received good news to celebrate. You guys don’t need to be debbie downers. See the thread “telling people about likely letters.”

there’s already a list of ed acceptances from december. and why consider likelies, when it’s only a fraction of rd acceptances? just wait until april to celebrate, pigs.

k, sorry:( :(,

let’s let this thread die

There’s an entire thread dedicated to likely letter recipients that you started. And it isn’t a guarantee that you all will end up at Columbia. So it’s kind of a slap in the face to those anxious souls that love Columbia but still have to wait until April 1st to find out.

Let me be a little objective here:

Pigs, it was sort of a dick move to make this. Obstinate et al, give me a break. It “makes you feel bad” that other people have already gotten in? Relax. You applied RD, so go twiddle your thumbs. Pigs was in your place at one time too.

Not exactly. Do you see all the ED acceptees making threads like this? If you’re in, eat cake and whatnot. There’s just no point in this, is all I’m saying.

i am a giant worm and i eat tiny apples

Story:

A week ago I was bored in stats and the kid who sits next to me brought his senior project PowerPoint on a CD and he left to go to the “bathroom” (when he returned with cheetos after 45 minutes I was suspicious… I’ve never met anyone capable of defecating pre-packaged food) anyway I noticed the CD in his binder because he left it open. For some reason I had brought a sharpie to school. I decided to write “PORN” on his CD and then I turned it upside down so it wouldn’t show.

Fast forward a week to senior project day…

At the start of his presentation he unknowingly gave the CD to one of the judges who happened to be our principal, who didn’t believe the kid (because he was caught exchanging the security VHS tapes with Pornos for this years “senior prank” and he was going to hide this security cam thing so he could try to get a video of the principal watching a porno, apparently hoping he would be able to get him fired/on the registered sex offender list–I didn’t know this at the time I wrote on the CD because the senior prank happened within that week.)

Long story short The kid never got to present his senior project and I am (partially) responsible for this kid becoming a registered sex offender.

It seemed a funny at the time.

Sorry, nobody at school actually knows that it was my fault and I feel really really bad, and I kind of needed to tell someone.

–I tried to turn myself in but I have a long, unfortunate history with this kid which as of this year turned around but the principal wouldnt believe me because he thinks that I was bullied into taking the fall for the kid. I don’t know what to do…

^Cool story bro. Why did you post it here?

I don’t know why he posted it here…but that is really funny.

“It’s mean-spirited, but mainly, it’s unnecessary.”

Agreed. The OP also made a “what school would you turn down for Columbia thread”–as if it were necessary for Columbia hopefuls/students to assert the school’s superiority over other schools to stroke their fragile egos.

Some of you need to get over yourselves. Pigs already apologized to those overly-sensitive types and explicity declared that we should let this thread die, yet you feel the need to bump up this thread. Don’t create drama.
Get over your jealousy. You think that this thread was mean spirited because you have not been accepted or received a likely letter. If you WERE already accepted, you wouldn’t be so sensitive about this thread.

That non-sequitor reminds me of the chapter regarding Huey Lewis & the News inserted in the middle of “American Psycho”…

It’s just that this is pretty much pointless, likely letter or not. Like, say I were accepted ED, I would be reading up on cool NYC spots (Secret New York anyone?) or crucial Columbia info, you know, reasons why you should pick Columbia over any other school. That’s what the LL is for, to sway you to the school and whatnot. No need for like, three threads on Likelies.
