I just got TAP certified on monday. My counselor, the honors coordinator and I all signed the TAP form. Now it will be sent to UCLA.

Can i get TAP certified by taking honors courses at different community colleges? For example i take 2 honors courses at CCC A and 3 at CCC B, will that get me TAP certified?

yes sir~ you can do that!

Well UCLA is my second choice so I decided NOT to join after much debate because my #1 school's admissions counselor assured me being in the Honors Program had absolutely no impact on their decisions given that it's community college anyway. Plus, my school's Honor program is ridiculous, only offering about 3 classes every semester, one of which is always Calc. Not helpful.

me 2... UCLA is my second choice but i should of done it anyways... i regret it!

really? I think my coursework overall is good, I'm thnking I'll probably-hopefully still be admitted bc I'll have my pre-reqs finished and my GPA is pretty strong. I'm not sure if I will still beat out a prospective with a 3.6 and Honors-TAP certification when I'm at a 3.9 . But I hope so, and we'll see.
:P
is it weird that i worry about ucla? lol.

with your GPA not really what's your major?

Communications >< just as competitive as bus. econ, you?

communication..... my friend got in last yr with 3.8 GPA you will be gud if you are done w/ pre-req and IGETC..
im soc major by the way..

nice! and yeah i won't be done since my school apparently doesn't offer that last class, but it's a bit of a stretch bc I'm taking 3 pre-req courses Spring.
:P They'll be challenging but I'm excited bc they actually pertain to my major so should be fun as well. :)

Would you suggest a Bio major with a relatively low GPA (3.0-3.5) take TAP? I will be attending SMC btw.

TAP is really for majors of the Letters & Sciences department, I don't know if the program would help you much EJ20.

hmm.. really? I thought TAP was helpful for every major, impacted/non-impacted. I mean, I have a pretty low GPA but raising, and want everything I can to help me get into UCLA. Would it be better off focusing just on my prereqs/igetc than spending extra time/effort on TAP? Can anyone else chime in?

It would be a big help and I nay be mistaken but Bio is in the college of letters arts and sciences.

Biology is an impacted major. TAP might help you out a bit. But if i were you i'd focus more on completing all of your lower division/IGETC.

thanks for the input guys =)

so well i am gonna do electronic engg....i mean do i need TAP....???

TAP only covers majors in the College of Letters and Science so no, it won't do anything for you.

Biology is in the College of Letters and Science you paprikas!
