yeah i know. i'm watching the game right now and i can barely beleive my eyes. that makes me wonder if the mets' lead is safe. the braves might just take off and never look back. this would be one the greatest comebacks ever.
makes me wonder what that offence is gonna do to chris carpenter tomorrow ... hmmm
PS all i really care about in that game is whether or not pujols got a hit. he did, so i'm happy :)

haha yeah he broke up Hudson's no hitter. Yeah if the Braves were to win the division this year then it would truly be amazing (I think they are 10 or 11 games out now) and Bobby Cox would be given coach of the year no questions asked. But wildcard seems pretty probable as they are only like 4.5 games out and are playing the best at the moment out of the teams in the wildcard hunt.

well the thing is that the braves are for sure looking to extend the streak. even if they win the wild card, it still wouldn't be as pleasant for them as if they've won the division, even though they would still get to the playoffs. in addition, you still have to remember the astros, they can put up an impressive comeback of their own, and the phillies also are capable of making it interesting in the end.

oh god. remember i posted a quote yesterday about mariano duncan, dodgers first base coach, getting his hat thrown into the stands by angel hernandez? so today before the game grady little TAPED the hat on his head. like in front of the tv cameras. that was even more funny than yesterday. good stuff. :D

^Haha! I have been a Braves fan my whole life, and since I am only 17, the Braves winning the division every year is like a constant in my life and it would certainly be a bitter taste for all Braves' fans for them to not continue the streak even if they win the wildcard. However, the Braves have been infamous for winning the division every year with relative ease and then not advancing in the play-offs, and always losing to a team (usually the wildcard team) that had to end their season on a hot streak to even get in, i.e. the astros. So my thought is, if this year the braves manage to get hot and end the regular season playing every game like it could be their last, they could finally be that team that advances beyond the team that coasted into the playoffs. Therefore it is my thought that if the braves make it this year, look out for them in the World Series!

that makes sense. we sure want some competition to exist too. btw i'd love to see the mets and the braves in NLCS, that would be pretty exciting.

Wow yeah that would be a very exciting series...with a strong possibility of benches clearing...there is so much bad blood between the two. Plus if the mets do win the division, the braves would really want to beat them in the playoffs---that would be so worth them not winning the division. Plus the thing is, if the mets dont manage to win it this year, they're not going to win it ever. They spent so much money on big name players this year! Thats one reason i hate the mets, they go and spend millions to have one really strong team every few years, whereas the braves build up their farm team and are composed of players that have moved up their farm system. I mean Chipper, Andrew, Francouer, Mccan, Laroche, Betemit...basically all of their starters except for Renteria are players from their minor league system.

Thats what i adore the Braves for. When they are in need of a glove in the outfield of an arm in the bullpen, they just dig into their farm instead of going out and spending money on accomplished stars and make stars out of young prospects (Andruw and Chipper would be the best examples possible). The good thing for us is that the Diamondbacks are being very protective of their young prospects this season, which actually came with a new owner. And they have all reasons to do that: our Triple-A Tucson Sidewinders are just tearing the Pacific Coast League apart, they are almost 30 games over .500, and our farm system is the best in all of baseball right now. We brought Conor Jackson last september, and he looks like he's been playing in the majors for 5 years, his pitch selestion is awesome, almost nobody can strike him out. Stephen Drew has been brought up just 3 days ago, and although he's only 2-for-10 so far, he's made some dandy plays at shortstop. Enrique Gonzalez, a starting pitcher, could've easily been 5-0 right now if our offence didnt go to sleep in June. Our system is packed with young prospects, but the problem is that we don't have any positions open for them - we've got either milti-million dollar veterans like Luis Gonzalez or Shawn Green, or young talented players like Chad Tracy or Orlando Hudson.

I adore the cardinals. I think that they will definetly make the playoffs and the world series due to obvious reasons such as they have Albert Pujols and a really good pitchers. They also have one of the best records in the league with 55 wins and 39 losses.

^^Their record is 52-41 but yeah...

The NL sucks a lot this year. A team from the AL is definitley going to win the World Series.

Let's talk Fantasy Baseball...what do you guys think of this trade?

Garciaparra + Teixiera for Willis + Youkilis + Hanley Ramirez

Which side gets the better side of the deal?

I think Teixiera is due for a big second half...I would keep him.

Nomar isn't doing very bad. His BA is good, he just knocked in a run yesterday. Definetely keep Teixera. D-Train would win more, but the Marlins are not hitting. Youkilis is just slightly above average. Dont do that trade.
Btw does anybody play Beat the Streak on mlb.com? I've got a 10-game streak going, hoping for more.

Anyone see the Yankees game last nite?

Not me, because our dish and radio went out in the storm here in NJ.
I had to catch up this am. Yanks behind 4-2 in the ninth. They tie it up....then a two hour rain delay. THEN a game winning, 11th inning walk off homer to win it!

Magic.....but then that's what the Yankees do.

It ended really late.

What do you think of Garciaparra+Blalock+Anthony Reyes for Peavy+Street?

I dont understand why you want to trade nomar right now but ok. You're giving up a couple of very good production players in Nomar and Hank Blalock plus a throw-in in rookie Reyes (rookies are usually flip a coin, they can be awesome, but they can struggle big time ) for Jake Peavy (he's just a shell of himself in comparison to last year with the exception of strikeouts, the NL West is getting some good looks at him so he gives up runs) and Huston Street (good closer, but not awesome, the A's are playiong good, but you never know). So you're getting rid of everyday players that can really hit and knock in some runs plus a pitcher that is coming off a shutout and getting a mediocre starter and a nice but not great closer. I'd stick with what you've got.

I'm trying to get rid of one of my shortstops and get a good closer. I want to pick up David Eckstein and I have one player sitting on the bench. My closers are Todd Jones and Mariano Rivera. I could use another closer in exchange for a 3B who just sits on my bench.

Wht shortstops? Nomar is first baseman, Blalock is 3rd baseman.
In that case you have a reason to get Street, but Peavy isn't worth it.

Here's my lineup:

C B. McCann (Atl - C)
1B M. Teixeira (Tex - 1B)
2B T. Iguchi (CWS - 2B)
3B N. Garciaparra (LAD - 1B,3B,SS)
SS M. Young (Tex - SS)
OF I. Suzuki (Sea - OF)
OF R. Iba
