Let's talk baseball

you've got a lot of high-BA hitters - Ichiro, Nomar, Young, McCann, so its all not that bad. Teixera can hit the ball out every once in awhile, but you do lack power. Your pitching staff is OK: you've got Glavine, Lowe, C.C.Sabathia, Mo, Johnson. Too bad Prior is most likely not gonna be 100% this season at all, and Ben Sheets is on the DL.
You need to improve hitting rather than pitching, production-wise. Dont give up the high-average hitters for pitchers.
Eckstein is a classic leadoff hitter, meaning he gets on base but does not get a lot of ribbies, so he's not what you're looking for. Zimmermann is a nice player, but he's not worth giving up Nomar or, say, Ichiro for.
From the waiver wire, i'd try to get Nixon, Edmonds, Overbay, Piazza, or maybe Adrian Gonzalez, he's been pretty hot lately. There are some good pitchers there, but they play for weak-hitting teams (with exception of Traschsel of course)

I think you misunderstood me. I wouldn't trade Nomar for Zimmerman. I would trade Nomar for a good power hitter and then pick up Zimerman to take Nomar's place.

What do you think I can get for Blalock? Also, I'm thinking of acquiring Soriano. He does a lot. What would I have to give up to get him? Any ideas? ANd would it be worth it?

There's good stuff on the waiver wire, but my big problem is who on my pitching staff is the real deal. All these young rookies have promise and potential...but are they going to show it this year? It's tough to decide.

I think you won't get a lot for Blalock. Besides, he's not that bad right now, just not great.
Soriano would be a great deal for you, especially if he'll get traded back to American league, to Yankees or Angels. You might have to give up Lowe, or, say, McCann or Ichiro - Alfonso's good.
Johnson have already showed that he can get the major league guys out. Billingsley doesn't look that bad either - did not allow a run in the win yesterday. Reyes has potential, his first couple of starts were not that bad. So your rookies are alright. You need to get rid of Sheets and Prior and get a nice hitter instead.

I could part with Lowe...if I can get a Lowe for Soriano deal. I doubt I would be able to deal Ichiro. I was hoping to have 2 big base stealers on my team.

What type of value does Prior have now? What about Sheets? They both are going to come back soon.

Btw, my team is pretty bad, but I've managed (still 6/12) because I had to drop both Matsui and Sheffield b/c of injuries.

that sound exciting. Is it easy to manage? Does it cost anything for this game? I want to join but I don't know how. Wait, is it too late since it's mid-season right now.

Did anyone see the Mariner/Yankee game a couple of days ago. That call at the end cost the M's th game.):

Oh has anyone noticed Ibanez from the Mariners, hes on fire!!!!

Guys, my fantasy team is kickin A s s
The Stars
-ichiro
-berkman
-Andruw jones
-D. Jeter
-J. lackey
-J. Santana
-schillings
-becket

I made some beastly Free Agent pick ups
-Ibanez
-Freddy sanchez
-chien ming wang

Yeah, I thought i might share with everyone my team....but the point of my post is to say...

~GO YANKEES~

chrisc prior has been in and out of DL all season. Sheets ... he's a nice pitcher, but Milwaukee is not hitting well lately.
taekwondo39232 how did you manage to get ibanez and freddy sanchez as free agents? that's kinda strange.
About Go Yankees. Didn't they lose today in extras on Vernon Wells' homer? ;)
And what do you guys think of Brandon Webb getting this year's NL Cy Young? He leads the league in ERA, innings pitched, second in complete games, second in wins, second in winning percentage, first in strikeouts-to-walk ratio. I'd say he's gotta be one of the front-runners.

What do you think of getting Soriano for Iguchi+Prior+Garciaparra or Young?

oh jeez, the red sox are really blowing the five-game series against the yankees. their pitching really sucks right now.

YANKEES ARE DOING IT AGAIN

RED SOX MISSING THE PLAYOFFS THIS YEAR? I think so.

:)

OVB-

I have to agree with you after watching the Red Sox fall to the Yankees in the last THREE straight games!

What was it? First time in Red Sox history, ever, that they dropped 3 consecutive games to opponents who scored 12+ runs per game......

Yankees WILL do it again!

Yeah musicmom, I smell a sweep. Moose will dominate tomorrow and the Yankees will make Curt cry again. Wells sucks, so that should be another win. BOSTON MASSACRE I LIKE

Well, Moose didn't dominate BUT the Yankees did find a way!

FIVE game sweep!

I'm talking to my friend (a hardcore Sox fan). He sounds like he just came from a funeral.

the SOX are a big juicy steak, stick a fork in them, cause they're done.

Pitching is gonna be a huge issue for them next year.
