Let's Talk Guns

Would you own a gun?

I personally would. If I ever start a family and own a home, I would be sure to own a gun for defense. And no, I am not a redneck. My parents do not own guns nor does anyone in my immediate family own one. I find them necessary for me. Anyone else?

I own a .22…

And I plan to buy many more once I’m old enough.

Nice, I thought about buying a gun when I turn 18. But I’d just have to stash it with my parents when I’m out for college. So, that’s a no. If you don’t mind me asking, how much was it?

Just these two right here flexes

^I knew someone would say that… lol

^^^If you’re going to buy a gun, please learn how to use it. Well. Gun safety!

I wouldn’t buy a gun. I’m not really that morally opposed to it or anything, I just don’t see a need. And then I’d have to learn how to use it. I feel like someone would either really feel s/he needed a gun or be really interested in them to buy one, since one should really learn to use it first.

Also: ***?

aaaaaaaahahahahahahah

I think I might own an attractive gun or two when I’m an established citizen. Technology is never completely foolproof, so living in the city I think I’d feel safer if the worldly possessions I’d slaved for were protected by more than a doorman or a computer program.

Nope. Why would I ever need a gun if I live in a good neighborhood and have ADT or something?

Simply ■■■■■■■■. Plus i’d be so paranoid about the gun falling into the wrong hands/my kids playing with it somehow etc. And I don’t think I could ever get myself to pull the trigger either.

Guns are overrated. All the cool kids are using crossbows.

If you need to buy a gun for safety, then maybe you should find a better neighbourhood.

Definitely planning to once I hit the real world.

.22’s are relatively cheap, less than 400 for a decent one

I agree with NiteStriker.

^^OMG, I could get Gucci on sale for less than that.

^Hahahahaha Millancad…

Anyways, IMO guns are more recreational than anything. Just another expensive hobby.

However, as for the defense argument, I feel as if the benefits outweigh the risks provided you actually have trained/paid extremely close attention to safety. This is especially true when you are single, and have your own apartment.

Then again, if someone does not feel comfortable taking the responsibility of owning a gun, they certainly should not own one.

As for this argument

… So how is ADT going to protect you once a criminal is at your house. I know this is highly unlikely in a decent neighborhood, but I’m just wondering how ADT protects you from a determined invader? ADT is meant to protect you from burglars, not violent criminals. What are you going to do in the 5 minutes it takes security services to arrive?

^ Hide in your closet.

I’d rather not take that chance. If anything, hide in the closet with a way to defend yourself.

I don’t have any guns… Besides an air rifle :P. You only need a gun if a: you hunt, or b: you have something you’d kill to keep. For me, that means I’ll want a gun when I have a family.

I will never have a loaded gun near my children (as in, ANYWHERE in my house). If someone breaks into my house, I will not have enough time to load a gun (as the guy breaking in will probably already have a gun loaded and ready to shoot). Therefore, it is ineffective most times.

Plus, intruders like the houses with the least resistance. As I plan to always have pitbulls, I seriously doubt they’re going to break into my house with two huge menancing dogs when the house next door has a toy poodle.
