Our family fell in love with the University of New Hampshire during the tour. My sister went there, really liked it. How come no one is talking about it on CC???

For New England, I really think UCONN & UMASS are more popular! UCONN is ranked about #27 for National Public Universities by USNWR. UNH is a great school, seems to fly under everybody’s radar!

My son goes there - he is a junior, and loves the school. Didn’t even consider it until he visited. Down side is that if you are looking for diversity, this isn’t the place!

I agree, Bonacspud, would love to hear some UNH chatter. My son has been accepted EA, and it’s one of his top choices right now. Awaiting UConn which would be in state. How does UNH compare?

When did you son hear back, seems early, I wasn’t expecting anything till Mid Jan, did you have special circumstances? My sister when to UNH graduated in 1987, loved it, has good job in NYC, was on crew team, etc. I think UNH is a more intimate college in rural setting then UCONN, UCOnn is more highly rated, it all boils down to what you are looking for.

Bonacspud, he applied 10/14 and heard back 11/30. No special circumstances, good GPA but only average test scores. I think Durham has a lot more going on than Storrs does, but OOS UNH is 16k more than UConn in-state.

My son applied on 11/1 and heard back on 12/9. Actually web was updated as accepted EA on 12/9 and business sized letter arrived in the mail on 12/13. Excellent OOS public school, B+ average and comparable test grades. Loved the school and campus. Will probably matriculate here. Go Wildcats!!!

Thanks for the heads up. I checked online today and my son was admited. Always a good feeling!

I’m from New Hampshire and was just accepted a few weeks ago. My best friend goes there now and loves it. It’s a bit too big for me so it’s doubtful I’ll end up there, but I’ve heard many positive thinbgs about it (many in my class end up there). And congrats!

YEah I’m an NH resident. I got accepted to UNH with a scholarship but I was still just like “meh.” I think it’s cuz most kids wanna get out of New Hampshire. If I get accepted to UConn and get a half-tuition scholarship then I’d rather go there

We visited last year and my daughter loved the place, absolutely loved it. Lack of diversity the only drawback. She would go into the honors program. She sat in on an English class; the prof & kids were wonderful, etc etc.

However we are from NJ and would not expect much offered in the way of scholarship, as we are not state residents. State schools tend to take care of their own and I don’t blame them.

She has applied RD to UNH & several others and we are waiting to hear. She is accepted EA at Fordham, & also in Rutgers’ rolling admissions. I’d love for her to be able to go to UNH; it looked so great for her in so many ways, but it will probably be one of the more expensive options for us.

JRZMom, I went to Rutgers a long time ago and my husband went to UNH. He made many Jersey friends there. New Hampshire is a fabulous place to go to school and even settle down and raise a family. All the people I know who went to UNH back when are executives and business owners in medium sized businesses. Their business school has been gaining recognition in recent years. Good Luck choosing!

Thank you!

Right now we are in the “wait” mode for the RD decisions, most of which will appear in spring. It’s difficult for her — some of her friends are receiving acceptances from rolling admissions places and then there are midterms coming up. Senior year is not all the “fun” it is made out to be!
