It’s 10 days for those taking it on Wednesday.

I’m excited :).

It’s my last chance :o!

Current scores on official PSATs: a 237, and a 226 on the latest one. I’m not going to study any more :). And yes, I calculated my score correctly this time :p.

My tip: Make a spreadsheet and put all the unfamiliar vocab on there with a definition and an example sentence that you make up yourself.

This is my spreadsheet; it has about 500 words on it.

I scored a 211 as a freshman and a 220 as a sophomore, so I think I should be in pretty good shape, especially after haven prepared for and taken the SAT yesterday.

Next weekend, I’ll take a few practice tests.

i am so psyched/excited! im a junior and its the first time, so im a bit nervous, but i’ve got 13 days! it’s also my birthday the fifteenth, so it should be special!

I’m a junior; this will be my first time taking the PSAT. Not sure what to expect since I haven’t tried any pratice PSATs… my last 2 pratice SAT’s (online CB tests) have been 2250 +.

I still feel like there’s so much that I need to work on though, especially for Reading. I’ll be hitting the vocab lists and more pratice sections.

Not sure if the PSAT really counts in any way besides the National Merit stuff (if someone cares to explain, I’ld be happy to listen) but I guess it would be a nice boost to an application, even though it’s a small one.

I took the PSAT last year as a sophomore, and while I was getting 240’s on practice tests, I only got a 189 on the actual test. I’m going to try really hard this year.

I think my main problem last year is that I had a cold so I couldn’t focus very well. My advice: stay healthy!

I wasn’t too worried about my PSAT score until I realized that a lot of summer programs use it for admissions. Now I have the drive to work really hard on studying for the next week and a half.

@russgenious besides National Merit, if you score very high (225+) you’ll get brochures and will have a great shot at highly selective summer programs such as Telluride and RSI and SSP. Such programs weigh heavily on the PSAT, particularly Telluride, and getting in any of those 3, among others, looks spectacular for college.

Hey Larry, I gave my e-mail to your website because I wanted the PSAT math review that your website was offering. However, I never got Master Jacob’s math review sheet. Can you check it out for me :)?

On a side note - I loved your AP Euro Crash Course book :p!

The PR conversion table for writing is unbelievably inaccurate. The conversion was something lik 80 80 79 77 etc. The curve for writing for the 2011 PSAT was something like 80 77 75 72 70 and similar for years past.

I’m taking APUSH this year, but I’m not sure if I should get Crash Course or Direct Hits. Both have your name on them. Which book of yours do you recommend :)?

Oh man, I feel amped. As dorky as it feels to say, there’s something so cathartic about test-taking.

Last year I went in unprepared and got a 198 with 4/14 on one math section. >< Naaasty. This year I’m hoping to do better than that–aimin’ for the 220s, if possible.
