I applied for CS at UT Austin and I know it’s tight as ever this year, so I’m kinda stressed. Looking to talk with people about their stats, thoughts on admissions, etc.
My stats:
Male/White/Upper-Middle Class
OOS
3.8 UW GPA
1430 SAT (730 Math, 700 EBRW)
Decent/Good ECs (2 years NHS, 2 years Key Club International, 1 year as co-organizer of a programming club, 1 year JV & 2 years Varsity tennis, 1 year Spanish club, 1 year city steel drum band, ~150 hours volunteering at local adoption shelter)
6 AP courses (Physics 1, Calc BC, Psych, Literature, Comp Sci A, Gov)
1 post-AP course (Calc III)
3 Honors courses (Pre-Calc, Algebra 2, LA 9)
15 total college credits earned in high school through a local community college (Microsoft Tech Associate & Consumer Econ + Business/Marketing)
3 rec letters- 2 teacher & 1 peer (Robotics/AP Physics teacher, Microsoft Tech Associate teacher, and friend of mine who is a professor at a local college)
Class rank 106/495* (Not very good, but I go to a top 30 public HS in my state- don’t think that matters, though)
Bracing for rejection
I already got denied from UIUC and UVA, and I’ll probably get denied from my top 3 choices (UT, USC, Rice). Likely going to end up at U of WA or Texas A&M if I get into those.
How about y’all?
*Side note: Do class ranks normally not take into account course difficulty? I know people taking and have taken all non-AP/non-honors classes with a 4.0 that have a better rank than me.
