Let's talk transfering and to where...

Quick overview:

Sophmore at University at Buffalo
2.5 GPA
1170 SAT
Intended Major: Business Administration Finance
Live at home
Manager at current job

I have been considering making a significant change for a variety of reasons.

The academics and advising have been disappointing. I make meetings which I have to wait months for and many professors are unavailable to meet with. I have started taking some of the major required courses, the TA's they have taught them don't really care. As one put it, "I don't really give a f*** about teaching, I already have a job lined up." I do not like the campus, it is awfully designed. A lot of the students I have met are rude and all about themselves, with that said I haven't really made any new friends. Having no social life isn't very fun. On a less important note, I am getting sick of cold weather.

I have simply lost interest in almost everything I have going on. I feel I am going to become "stuck" and lose out on many opportunities. I believe transfering will help me get back into a focused mindset being more interested in whats going on.

A few things I would like to transfer to:
-Business Program
-School size ~25k
-Warmer climate
- ~$25k per academic year MAX, my EFC is 0 so I do recieve a good amount of aid.
- Possibility of finding a job at a management level(I would be staying for 95% of the year)

So far, Oklahoma State is the only school I have come across. Sadly, it seems to be a smaller town which doesn't leave much as far as management employment opportunities.

My questions:

Should I just tough it out and suck it up at UB?
What are some other colleges to consider?
Is going away/out of state worth it?

Thanks for any and all feedback!

Very few schools offer good FA to transfers. Since you are getting some good aid at Buffalo I think you must be a NY resident. OK State won’t give you anything beyond the ~$6K for Pell and your $7500 Stafford loan, and you would be paying OOS costs of ~$36K/year. I think you should suck it up and get more connected to people at school.

Lots of good info right here: [Transfer Students - College Confidential](Transfer Students - College Confidential Forums)

As the title of the thread says, start here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/988533-resources-transfers-start-here.html

Stay home and work full time are the problems. You can save a lot of money while making some more as a manager. But for some thing good, you have to give up some thing, that is your social life and networking, they cannot be coexisting. I know a few people who went to SUNY-BU, they all had a good time, but you are a commuter, you are not one of “them”, obviously, you will get the cold shoulder.

Try to stay on campus more, perhaps start a study group in the class you are in or some thing. You need to put in some to get some.

oh, about the transfers. NO Where else in the world you can find a better deal, financially, than what you have now. Either the school is too expensive, not engough aid or no emplyment. If you don;t believe me, read up and investigate before you plunge.
