I don’t think AP World would become obsolete at all. It would be an excellent bridge course between continents, a bridge that would provide a different set of challenges when compared to the hypothetical classes of AP Asian History, AP African History, etc.

Well, I’ve never taken APWH (and never will. Go AP Euro ), so I’m not familiar with what it covers. I was assuming, however, that since APWH must logically cover African, Asian, Latin American, and Middle Eastern history, if courses were introduced that covered that same material in far greater depth, there would be less of a need for APWH. Then again, it would be practically impossible to fit all of the region-specific courses into one’s schedule in four years, so APWH would probably stick around for those who wanted a survey course of multiple different civilizations.

Unrelated, but: I will seriously die from happiness if AP Media and Journalism becomes a course at my school. I nerdgasm just imagining it…

The whole thing about AP World is analyzing trends and patterns. Very little specific information is needed in the course. If you contrast this with the two more specific history courses offered - APUSH and AP Euro - obviously one needs to know more factual information for those.

^^^^AP spelling. That would be awesome.

I think AP Chinese would be very, very good. Perhaps this might motivate schools to actually include Chinese as a language course.

How about make every class AP and scrap honors in general

Doesn’t CB already have Chinese Lang and Culture?

Yes 10char

AP How To Be Cool. An essential class to prepare students in social skills and handling pressures of everyday life.

It would be better to spend the time remaking some of the AP tests that are not commonly accepted by universities for placement. For example, at UC Berkeley:

AP Chemistry is not accepted for chemistry or chemical engineering majors.

AP Computer Science A is not accepted for any computer science course (AB was, but has been discontinued due to lack of interest).

AP Physics is not accepted for physics majors.

AP (any) History is not accepted for history majors.

AP Statistics is not accepted for majors that require calculus-based statistics.

There should be more language tests

AP Driving a Car—aka your license test except harder :)

AP Astronomy

AP senioritis. I would so ace that class and get a 5 on the exam.

AP Peace studies and AP Latin America would be cool additions.

AP Philosophy. AP Multivariable Calculus (Calc CD?).

I want them to reinstate the AP French Lit exam.

AP World Governments/Politics/somethingorother.

You mean just like AP Comparative Government & Politics?

I vote AP Philosophy, as others have…

^Yes!

Also, AP Political Thought–not like AP Gov b/c instead of studying the structure of current governments, you would read what political philosophers thought were the best systems of government, and discuss their findings. You could also discuss current events and current political developments.

I think it’d also be neat if instead of AP Lang and AP Lit, there were more specialized English AP courses. Like AP Lost Generation, or AP Poetry. :D

AP Typography. But that’s just me…

Also AP Ancient Greek would be really neat. Might encourage schools to re-instate ancient Greek as a language they teach. AP Classics in general would be nice–not just testing on Vergil, but instead on Roman and Greek history, culture, politics, mythology, etc.

AP Atheistic studies/ history / what ever you want to call it.

AP Religion, for all the religious schools.
AP Lunch, complete with lunchroom maps like in Mean Girls
