I received an e-mail from the assistant admission director saying that she really enjoyed my essay ("entertaining and interesting in addition to being well-written"). And that although it is "too soon to tell what admission decisions will ultimately be reached," she just wanted to to offer any assistance or answer any questions if needed.

Do the directors normally do this? Should I be flattered or was this a mass e-mail?

I never received such an email!! (I was accepted ED I).

Wow, cool!! Good for you!! Definitely be flattered, I'd say :)

Wow, that's awesome, lol.

I'd actually love to read that essay... seriously, if it prompts a message from an admissions director, it must be awesome.

Edit: I forgot to answer your question - I didn't get an e-mail like that :'(

My daughter got one too from the New England assistant admissions director. I figure it certainly is a good sign. I hope other colleges are as impressed with my D's essay as Wes was so we have lots of choices. Congratulations andalusia - good for you!

wow! CC really is a small world… i got one, too. but i dont know what to make of it. i’m afraid to call it a likely letter, because most likely, the admissions director isnt the one making the decisions. but, it sure is nice to have some kind of feedback before April 1…at least i know my essay doesnt suck!
