Letter from admissions councelor: Does this sound positive?

I sent an email to a school applied to for Early Action ensuring that it was my first choice school. I got this in response from the guidance counselor:

Thank you for your email. I made sure that I copy of your email was placed in your admissions file when it arrived. I apologize for the time it’s taken me to follow up via email. I’m sure you are aware that we will release our decisions tomorrow. If you have any questions about your decision, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If I were accepted, why would I have any questions about my decision? I feel like that probably means I'm deferred or worse :/. I'm likely over-analyzing this, and it's possible that she doesn't even know what my decision is. It' also possible she writes that at the end of every email she sends to students about admission and I'm making something out of nothing.

What do you think?

they write that at the end of every email usually. don’t worry about it.

Just out of curiosity, what school is this for?

The admission counselor is trying to keep you in suspense. While you may have questions if you are rejected from the college, I think you may have forgotten the important questions if you do get accepted. For example, if you did get accepted, you might have questions regarding scholarships, the AP credits the school accepts, etc… Of course, it’s understandable if you are nervous about the college’s decision.

Since you never indicated your academics/activities credentials or the college to which you applied, I don’t have a good indicator of where you stand for college admission.

Well, she told me to contact her if I have any questions “about my decision.”

The school is Elon.

My gpa is around 89 (on a 100 point scale). I have a large upward grade trend, going like this in order from freshman to senior year: 84, 85, 94, 95. (at Elon, this translates to a 3.2-3.4 gpa my first two years, a 4.6 my junior year and a 5.4 my senior year.) I’ve taken quite a few honors and AP classes. I wrote a really unique and different essay to their question: “what’s a problem that your generation faces and what are you doing to improve it?” I’m a varsity captain and am one of the top 10 high school athletes in my state for my sport. I have 150+ community service hours, 70 of which are from a political campaign that I adamantly volunteered for, for an issue in my state that got a lot of media attention (I wrote my essay about this). My SATs are good enough for Elon’s stats, but imbalanced: 560 math, 590 reading and 720 writing. I also play an instrument and have done a lot with music. I’m in an admission-based orchestra in my area and have gone to multiple music festivals.

It’s just a form letter sent to anyone who applied ED and sent follow-up info.

Good luck! You’ll learn shortly Elon’s decision.

Not to get your nerves going or anything, but Elon is an awesome place!! Please keep us updated on your status.

Good luck…everyone I know who’s attended Elon has had an amazing collegiate experience. Your music hook will be a plus factor. Keep us apprised, and I’ve got my fingers crossed for you.

:)

Post in the EA Elon thread when you get accepted  I’m waiting for my decision from them too!
