Hello people, I got a letter from Harvard congratulating me on my academic performance . It said it got my name from CollegeBoard and that they wud be sendin me an application packet later ...
Btw my SAT scores werent expectional ( i got 2180) and i live in India.... So I wasnt expecting anything especially from Harvard ..... So does make any difference ... Are there more ppl. on here that got such letters ...

I'm from the USA and got it.

not really....it is a junk mail.

lets see.
Let's say $100 app fee.90% rejected.1 million people from around the world applies.
It sure makes a lot of dole for some fund

there is absolutely no way 1 million people apply. maybe 30K at most. also, fee is $65 i think. still a hefty chunk of money, but not $100 milllion

It is not junk mail. It means that based on your SATs or ACTs and self-reported gpa, your stats are within the range of those of students who could handle Harvard if they were accepted.

That's also the case of tens of thousands of students who'll get such letters. Only 1 in 10 Harvard applicants gets accepted, but Harvard wants to attract the strongest applicant pool possible. Anyway, if you're interested in Harvard, apply, but don't assume that the letter means you have free pass for admissions.

Nice Spin ...:)

about 70000 (17000?) juniors get that letter. or so i've read on these boards.
