Letter from Principal

Hi...the principal in my school is a PhD graduate from Stanford University. Suppose he writes me a great letter of recommendation, will it increase my chances of admission? Thanks

Will he write your counselor recommendation, or the optional recommendation? How well does he know you?

Recommendation letters from alumni can hold more weight IF he says something to the effect of "I have known many brilliant people during my time at Stanford, and (your name) would compete/fit in with the best of them."

he's known me since i was in junior high...he knows i'm one of the top students in school cuz i already talked to him...so it will have a big positive impact, am i correct?

Please read the entire information, very important for me: Thank You! I am also interested because I am in the exact situation. My High-School Principal was also a PhD graduate and did research at Stanford University for 4 years in Mathematics, very relevant to my Economics proposed major. Additionally, his considerable 5-year career both in semi-teaching and as an administrator at my high-school. He also has known me since junior-high (when he was an assistant principal at the junior-high school affiliated). In his opinion, I am one of the top few students that he has met in his time at my school and I am still mainting very high grades Top 3-4% of the class. This would be my special alumni optional recommendation, I think. Lastly, I skipped a grade during elementary school and I am almost two years younger than most of my colleagues. I had to adjust greatly to the different circumstances, especially with behavior. However, I have a clean slate for 6 years and he knows I am widely accepted throughout school despite this fact. I REALLY NEED HELP? WILL IT HELP? Thanks All!

"clean slate for six years"

haha. so since you were in 5th grade, right? really, who cares what you did in 5th grade? stanford won't. honestly, stanford just looks at what you've done since 10th grade, so forget about anything before that, unless it's really really important.

anyway, i think it would be a HUGE plus to have the pricipal write you a rec. i mean it can't really hurt you. hes the pricipal, he knows you, AND he's a stanford alumni...and we all know that stanford LOVES it's alumni.

Yes it would help, especially if he compares you favorably to other Stanford students, as I said above.
