Letter from teacher

This is sort of a stupid question. For an application, there’s a form to fill out and a letter required for my guidance counselor and a form to fill out and a letter required for a teacher. I had a third person write a letter for me (no form) . My question is, that person just send the letter in an envelope. Will it be placed in my file since it only has my full name in probably the first sentence of the recommendation? It would still be considered although it is more than what is required right? Meaning, they’ll take it into consideration? Thanks for any replies.

I don't know the answer...but there are no stupid questions in life :p

I had a third teacher write a letter of recommendation for me as well and I just printed him off another recommendation form. You should call the college/university and inform them that there is a 3rd letter coming.

The letter will most likely get to your file - it might help to contact them and check.
The readers of your file will scan through it when they're evaluating you. But they'll really pay attention to it only if your recommender offers a unique perspective on you which catches their interest.
hope this helps.
