Letter from the Dean

Does everybody get a letter from the Dean?

I got one in the mail today. I was just wondering if it was standard letter or a likely one.

My DS applied RD & didn't get one, but has gotten several "salespitch" type letters from other schools to help him "make his decision", although he hasn't gotten any offers yet. What did your letter say?

It was kind of like a "sales-pitch" one.... It elaborated pretty much about what a great place Lehigh was.... all of the great qualities about it and why it would be a fantastic school to go to....

Your son probably got a few of those letters. Anyway, I wonder if they would send a letter like that to somebody they were planning on rejecting? I don't think they would... I really hope not... or maybe it was just a standard letter.

crosses fingers and waits nervously

Well, my DS got the same letter today. I wonder if this is what others call a "likely letter"? I hope...
Does anyone out there know what a likely letter is & what it says???

my friend got a likely letter. it talked about specific parts of his application, told him how amazing he was basically, and encouraged him to consider lehigh when making his decision

I don't know exactly what the "likely letter" says (didn't get one!), but from what others have posted on this thread:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/lehigh-university/457229-note-lehigh.html

it sounds like a very personalized letter, since some have even received compliments on their essays.

I got the "sales pitch" letter today - - it probably is just a standard letter but I have to admit that I'm also hoping they wouldn't waste their time on a rejected candidate. I know...just wishful thinking!

Exactly... I dont' want to get my hopes TOO high. Although, why would they send a letter promoting Lehigh to the rejected ones? :/ That wouldn't be very nice, IMHO.

Wishful thinking, wishful thinking....Anybody have an idea when in March decisions will be mailed?

last year people started recieving their decisions on march 24th. that's a monday this year so maybe they will mail on the 22nd???????

My d got one today from the dean of the business school; still looked like a form letter, but who knows.....

I got this letter too, it looks like something they wouldn't send to everyone because it would be a waste to try to convince someone who isn't accepted to your school to go to your school.

I didn't get a likely letter commenting on my essay. Hopefully that is just send by some regional admission officers?

I received the letter from the dean as well. This definitely isnt a likely letter, as I have seen one of Lehigh's likely letters since my friend got one.

But, I agree with everyone that they probably wouldn't waste their time and money sending this to people who weren't accepted. Anyone not get one? Not going to rub it in your face or anything, just curious for informational purposes.

Did it invite you to a Diversity Life Weekend?

nope it did not

I have not received any letters from a Dean or otherwise, but did receive an invitation to attend an IBE Honors Program for candidates later this month. It will be challenging getting there since I live pretty far, but seems like an offer that I cannot refuse ;)

Anyone else receive an invitation to the preview day for IBE Honors?
