With this issue, I wanted to give you a heads-up on the freshman admissions decisions (both fall and spring), which will be announced Thursday, March 27, and to let you know of some important activities and information for you and your students.

For New Admits
For some of you, this will be a time to celebrate "beating the odds" and savor the moment of a truly outstanding accomplishment. This is also a time when you will want to help your newly admitted students prepare for their upcoming life at Cal.

Click here for a list of important Resources for Newly Admitted (and Prospective) Students that you should know about, including Cal Day, our new Cal-culator financial aid tool, and summer programs.

For Admissions Denials
Unfortunately, others of you may have students who receive disappointing news. To help you and your students understand more about how we arrived at our admissions decisions, we've prepared a resources page about the Admissions selection process, with links to Frequently Asked Questions. We hope these will provide you with some understanding of why these students weren't selected for admission.

For Prospective Students
For information about how to prepare prospective students for our upcoming applications process, click here. Also, please don't forget to check out our Resources page.

Also, please encourage your students to create a Profile in *****. We will be using this online tool to help us in future recruitment efforts.

Just for Counselors
I also want to let you know that we are looking at integrating more e-recruitment tools into our outreach efforts. For example, our Financial Aid Office is introducing a new Cal-culator, which will help prospective students estimate their financial aid needs. Click here for more details. We'll be communicating specifics to you about other exciting developments for the upcoming recruitment season, so be sure to check your email and our website for details.

Finally, I'd like to remind you to check our staff page to find our who your Admissions officer is and how contact him or her. We always welcome questions and feedback about the Cal admissions process.

As always, I appreciate your efforts made on behalf of your students and the University of California, Berkeley. Many thanks for all of your support!

Sincerely,
