Letter from Washington University in St. Louis?

hi i just receieved a letter from this university saying "with ur academic record..............consider us as one of ur choices........our campus is beautiful with palace like dorms......etc." i think they want me to consider going there for college. but i NEVER requested for any colleges to send anything to me. i dont know why this college sent me a letter. i dont know how they even heard about me. people said it's cause i took the psat but i did HORRIBLY on that test and on that test i didnt ask for any colleges to send me things thru mail. is this letter considered something honorable? (which i hope it is lol.) or what? i still dont get how they even know who i am. thx.

Washington University is an EEO marketer. Everyone gets their
attention. They are not in love with you. They just want you
to bring a ring and propose.

Um. they're called "search letters". it may seem like they want you, but they send this to thousands of other kids. especially WUSTL.

sorry to burst any bubble. they don't really want you...they are notorious for urging kids to apply and then reject them to boost their ratings.

It is a marketing tool, but Wash U does only send the letters to students who are likely to have stats in the ballpark for admission. This doesn't mean, though, that you're guaranteed admission. If you're interested in being accepted, do show interest by visiting, doing a careful application, etc.

Because Wash U sends a lot of letters, many students errroneously assume they're automatically in, so they kiss off the application and then get rejected.

WUSTL is apparently notorious for sending out letters
