Letter in Mail?

Has anyone gotten their letter in the mail saying you have been accepted/denied? If so, where are you located? I know it is online, but I was also wondering if it has been sent out in mail. The letter online said a few days but I am so anxious to get it now. lol. Also, do we get information about scholarship in this packet like UM does? Thanks!

UMcane what does it say on the website? were you accepted?

I believe that a letter will be sent out soon with financial aid information etc. But do not expect anything like UM. U of F costs 1/2 of what UM does including room and board.

“Your official notification and additional materials will be mailed to you in the next few days.” This was on Friday, so I am assuming it will be in tomorrow- at least I hope! I also live in Orlando so thats relatively close to Gainesville. But my mail didnt even come today. I sware the mail lady skipped my house. haha

Yes, I was accepted. Thats what it says online when I go to my status check. Are you a current student? And yeah I’m not really expecting any scholarship. Im not even sure if UF offers scholarships that you dont apply for like FSU and UM does?

UF generally doesn’t not give out scholarships. very very very few people get scholarships as freshmen.

but it is still possible to get a scholarship without paying at UF? I hadnt even heard of it at FSU and I got one…

besides the ones for national merit, the only scholarships I think UF gives out are the opportunity scholar ones, which are only for people who qualify for the Pell Grant. There is also the Presidential scholarship, which I got, but to be honest I have no idea why or how to qualify for it. I think it has something to do with being a minority or maybe lower income that don’t qualify for pell grant.

what do you mean opportunity scholarship? And I qualify for a pell grant, but Im so confused on how all this financial aid stuff works.

I don’t know exactly how it works, as I didn’t get that one, but I think it’s not something you apply for, they just pick who gets it based off of your qualifications, like qualifying for the pell grant and still being competitive I guess. only some people get it, not everyone who gets the pell grant. I do remember that I wasn’t notified of getting the presidential one untill about a week after UF notified me of what financial aid I would get. so you’ve still got a long way to go before you find out if you got the oppurtunity one.

Also, for anyone else reading this, could you tell me what the “Presidential Platinum” scholarship is for? it has been eating away at me for almost a year not knowing why I am getting this money.

so has anyone gotten their letter in the mail? Its been nearly a week…

In 2009, the letter came to Central Florida about 14 days after the admissions were posted online.

UF tuition is 1/10th that of UM!
Take it from a UM parent!

I just recieved my letter and stuff from UF today
I live in Jax which is like an hour or less away

I received my letter too today. I live around Daytona Beach

I got mine today too! Did yours say “Your tuition deposit requirement has been waived; however, you are required to secure your place in the 2011 Freshman Class at the above website no later than May 1, 2011.”

I am wondering why it says this? Its in bold in the center of the page.

Yes it did, and it is true. I’ve already reserved my spot! My mom was so happy that she didn’t have to pay the $200 deposit and so am I.

Did you pay your Application fee with a SAT or ACT waiver?

I received mine today in the mail and I live in Jacksonville, so everyone should be getting theirs soon. It was only postmarked yesterday, I don’t know why it took them so long to send them out.

Anyone else disappointed by lack of information in the packet? Both UCF and UNF gave me huge brochures and folders, and UF is just a letter and a two page packet. Haha, Oh UF, gotta love 'em!

Ya even JU gave more, so I thought there would be more information. But I was just happy to see that letter!

A 2 page packet? I didnt get that…what it say?

It was titled “Freshman Information” and just held the “9 steps to ensure you had a successful transition to UF”. It also had Tuition and Fees on the back of it.
Thats strange that you didn’t get it.

yea for whoever didn’t get it, don’t worry too much. I live in town and still haven’t gotten it.
