For the class of 2016, I recently found I got rejected from Carnegie Mellon University and College of William and Mary. Do they accept letters of appeal? If so, can you give me several tips on constructing a decent one?

This may sound extremely presumptuous of me, but if you were rejected from W&M, then there is no chance your letter of appeal would be considered for admission reconsideration to CMU.

As for an appeal letter to W&M – dunno. But it’s a genrally frowned upon practice.

No, CMU does not accept letters of appeal. I don’t know about William and Mary. However, I would like to offer some encouragement. I know other colleges accepted you. Don’t look back; it’s their loss. But realize a good education depends on the person not the school.
