Letter of Interest/Additional information

So I was deferred EA, and had seen conflicting information regarding whether additional information (such as extra letters of recommendation and a letter stating your interest in Harvard to the regional admissions officer) would help my application. Would these help? I know Harvard states on their FAQ that

“Further updates may enhance your prospects, although in most cases, the essential details already are on file with the Admissions Committee. Additional information should be limited to significant developments in your high school career.”

but I’m not sure. Also, are updates to your application due by the RD deadline?

No. You can send updates through March.

I’ve expressed my opinion elsewhere, so I won’t rehash. But it basically paraphrases what Harvard states.

If you win a major award, have a major performance or exhibit, or cure cancer, let them know. Otherwise, as skieurope said elsewhere, Harvard operates on the assumption of continued interest. Your application was complete for early action and is complete for regular decision, unless something new happens that is major.
