Letter of Rec from Teacher not in Naviance

<p>Help! Very confused by Common App/naviance. Son's teacher left his high school and cannot access his naviance account. She emailed letter of rec to college counselor, who says she can upload it into naviance for the teacher who left. Counselor told us to enter info for teacher not on naviance into common app as "other recommender". But we don't want her letter to go to all 9 schools on common app, only to 6. But Common app sent link to teacher, while this is not needed if teacher's letter can be uploaded into naviance by college counselor, right? Counselor acknowledges she doesn't understand recommenders portion of Common App for non-naviance teacher and suggested I write to Common App and tell her the answer. But you can't write or call Common App. I see only Twitter and Facebook links in Help Center.</p>

<p>Should we delete this teacher as "other recommender" on Common App? When we try to delete her as other recommender, we see this prompt: Are you sure you want to remove this recommender? Removing of recommender will lead to removal of recommenders' assignment as well." This teacher is listed as "invited" but has not yet been assigned.</p>

<p>My bottom line question: Can I delete this teacher from CommonApp's Other recommenders section and ask her to submit letters the old fashioned way--in envelope mailed to colleges? Or, should I trust that college counselor can upload letter via naviance, delete teacher from Common App recommenders and be done with it?</p>

<p>As it turns out, teacher recommendations in Naviance won’t upload/submit into the Common App anyway. When the high school goes into Naviance to submit the transcript, school form, school report, GC recommendation and teacher recommendations to the Common App, everything submits except the teacher recommendations. For some reason, the system indicates the student has not yet submitted the Common Application even though he/she has. Very frustrating.</p>

<p>So, the counselor just told me she uploaded the letter. Do you think I can safely delete the teacher from being an Other Recommender in the Common App? Seems like I should have not been told by the counselor to put her in there in the first place.</p>

<p>For the teachers on Naviance, we do nothing in Common App to assign them, correct?</p>
