Next year I'm definitely getting a letter from a teacher whom I've known for 3 years and possibly my science teacher. My question is would it be "bad" to not have a letter of recommendation from a science teacher if I'm applying for science majors? My english teacher told us today to write on a flashcard things we want him to say in our letter. He probably know me just as well as my science teacher, and since my demonstrated interests have been in the science fields, would it show that I'm also well rounded?

Many schools want both a math-sci rec and an English-humanities rec. If you want science majors they will certainly expect a science teacher. Are you afraid your science teacher won’t write a good one? You probably have a few different science teachers and a few different math teachers. Start with your favorite and ask “do you think you could write me a good letter of recommendation?” If he says no, thank him for his honesty and move on.

Yeah my english teacher is great and he can probably make the language more powerful/persuasive.

Get this fantastic English teacher and a science teacher…what’s the problem?

I don’t want to have too many. The teacher I’ve had for 3 years, my guidance counselor, and my english + science teacher would make 4.

The guidance counselor and the teachers are not normally counted together. Many colleges want two teacher rec’s in addition to the guidance counselor. So maybe you should substitute a science teacher in for either the english teacher or the teacher of 3 years.
