Letter of recommendation from someone other than a teacher

I would like to get a recommendation from a college professor that I worked with during most of the summer between my sophomore and junior year. I'm using the Common App, and from the school forms, it looks like I can only get a recommendation from a teacher or a counselor. Is it possible for me to provide an additional recommendation from this professor? Is it helpful for me to do so?

A lot of schools will look at additional letters of recommendation. If this professor has some great things to say about you and your work, it could be very helpful. I would check with the specific colleges you are applying to. I just saw a website where the school had specific instructions on how to submit an additional recommendation from someone other than a teacher.

One of the college where my d is applying actually requested more recs (we homeschool) but their supplement only allows one rec. They said she could just email it to them.

Agree with mama bear, I would definitely inquire with your colleges how to include this with your app.
