I know that most schools or people on CC say that you need two teacher letter of recommendations and one counselor recommendation. Is it okay to get one teacher recommendation, one adviser or mentor from a program you were a part of - someone that knows you better through the experience, and one from a counselor. OR is it strictly 2 teachers & 1 guidance counselor.

You need 2 teachers and 1 guidance counselor no matter what. You can send additional recommendations on top of that from the kind of person you’re describing, but only do so if they’re going to add something new to your application.

It greatly depends on the school. You need to check the wesites of the schools to which you are applying and see what they require/allow.

Depending on the school, it differs. If you’re aiming for the top, it’s almost certain that two teacher recs and 1 counselor rec is required. Some will encourage supplementary recs, others will actually discourage them. I’ve seen a few colleges that only require one teacher rec as well. So check the schools website.
