I'm currently a junior and was wondering when I should get started on obtaining letters of recommendation. How many letters can I have? How can I make sure I get the very best, quality letters?

Thank you!

Awesome, thanks!

Those letters often fill in the spaces that aren’t so easy to know from a transcript . On a Harvard form they have a check list and 1 category is "1 of the best students I ever had " in addition to "outstanding ".You want a teacher that can say that ,so you have to be amazing ! Always ask if they are comfortable writing you a letter . You don’t want a lukewarm letter !
