Letter of Recommendations From Freshman Year Teachers

Hi everyone,

I am currently a junior, and I had a question about letter of recommendations.
Could I ask two freshman year teachers, both of whom I’ve stayed in touch with? One will be from the humanities, and the other teacher will be a STEM teacher (who I will have again senior year).

Thank you!

Probably not the best idea because colleges want to see what you are like (your influence within the classroom) now, not 3 years ago.

You can have one from a freshman teacher if he or she advised a club of yours, or you two participated in extracurricular activities together, but not both.

It is important to have a letter from a junior year or senior year teacher so colleges know what kind of impact you have had in the classroom recently.

I respectfully disagree with the above. If will have the same teacher again in 12th Grade, I,think that teacher is fine as long as you have been in reguslr contact. Be sure to ask that teacher if they feel they still know enough about you to write a rec. However, I don’t think you should ask the other freshman teacher. That might send a message that no other teachers liked you enough in subsequent school years to write a rec.

Did not read the part that you are going to have the STEM teacher again for 12th grade. In that case, I think it is fine to ask him or her for a letter of rec.
