Letter of Recommendations second time around

I'm currently applying to Master of Public Health programs and getting LORs has been a rough situation...to say the least. I had been in contact with my advisor the last couple of weeks and usually emailing him has never been an issue. I finally asked him if he would be willing to write a letter of recommendation for me and suddenly....no response. I graduated over a year ago, and don't have many professor/faculty members who I can say I am close to but my advisor is one of the few exceptions.

Another professor who I emailed actually wrote an LOR for me last year (...until financial and family situations put my applications on hold at the time). I know right after the summer she went on maternity leave but I don't know for how long. It could have been one semester or one year for all I know. Luckily all my LORs at the time were done before fall semester so there was no time issue or coming close to deadlines.

Now I want to apply again but no one is being responsive to my emails regarding LORs. I emailed another professor who I talked to a lot and got an A in his class so I was hoping he would remember me. When I use to email him before he was always quick to respond. Now, nothing.

Am I doing something wrong? I live in another city and my jobs make it hard for me to travel so I can't just go see my professors in person. I'm guessing that's what made it easy before-I always saw my LOR writers in person. I'm feeling pretty hopeless, I was in a really bad place last year and it crushed me to put my applications on hold for so long. Now things are better and I can get back into it...but this whole LOR thing is making it really hard. Just emailing my professors and advisor about it was nerve-wracking enough. Zero responses has just made me very nervous lol.

Perhaps you’ve got some kind of security obstacle preventing emails from going through. Or perhaps you are right to worry- you may have been forgotten about and/or people may no longer wish to recommend you. Only foolproof way to find out is call on the phone.
