Letter to coaches

<p>Hi. I play tennis and is the team captain in my high school varsity team. BUt i haven't played in any tournaments in the USTA.
And this person who used to work at college admissions office told me that I should write a letter to the coach in the colleges i'm applying to.
So my question is, does writing letter to coaches help admission chances at all?
If so, what should I write about?</p>

<p>I don't know where you're applying to, problem w/ tennis is that teams are small and the kids who play are smart and go to college, so you have to be elite to play at an elite school. If you've never played USTA I don't think you're going to be good enough for college.</p>

<p>I know nothing about college tennis, but I do know that it is always worth contacting college coaches if you are interested in college athletics. You have nothing to lose. Here's a recent thread about doing this:</p>
