Letter to Your Prospective Roommate as a Poem??

Hello, I have a quick question. For one of the essay questions on the Stanford supplement we have to write a letter to our prospective roommate, revealing something about ourselves.

Would it be effective or ineffective to write this letter as a poem?

Ultimately what it will reveal, is my love for poetry.

I say go for it. My friend who got in EA did something really creative and crazy for this, so I'm sure they'll appreciate your poem.

if you actually write poetry outside of college apps go for it. i think it is when people suddenly decided that they should become poets that things go wrong.

Yes, I actually write poetry. I've done it for quite a while now; it's actually coming along pretty well. I'm almost half ways done...

I'd like to read that if you're willing to PM it to me when you're done! I promise I won't steal it, I'm already in college lol

That does sound interesting! All I wrote was a pretty boring letter about my volleyball experiences... but I got accepted so I guess it wasn't horrible...

Anyway, my point is: yes, write a poem and impress the those admissions officers at Stanford!

Not to sound like a plaigarist but I wrote a poem too... But I already submitted my application... It was a little quirky but it came out well i think :D

^ I guess the idea isn't THAT unique!

lol... probably, but i really loved writing the poem!

I didn't read this thread prior to this but I too wrote a poem. Hahahaha. And yeah I'm a writer so it made sense.

Lolz.

Lol.. Looks like a lotta people are writing poems to their future roommates.. If they really did use it to choose roommates, I think it would turn out hilarious..

ya i wrote a poem too hahaha.

Oh! There seem to be a lot of people who wrote poems!
