LOL I got waitlisted at Lehigh, while accepted at better/more prestigous schools... I think its because I never saw the campus, but wrote in my app that i will visit in january, but ended up having no time whatsoever, even on weekends, to come down. So yea.... Congrats to those who got accepted. and to those who didnt, its all good :)

sweet.

are you going to attend diversity life?

i want to, but i'm not so sure...... cause i live quite a bit away, and my parents would be unable to make it.

Ugh. They do not cover travel expenses to visit. Williams College did... Cheapos.

..."This is bull****. I got waitlisted. It's probably lack of interest though. I live on long island, but never visted. Heard a lot about the campus from friends though and was considering visiting over easter recess if need be. There is no way in heck they are waitlisting me for acedemics. SAT nearly 100 points higher than their 75th percentile. 800, 800, 770 SAT II's. Top 4 out of a class of 375. Maybe even higher since I have been doing well this year. They're playing games with me, and I don't like it."

They aren't playing games with you. I'm sure they look at you as a student who is probably viewing Lehigh as a possible "safety" school and not seriously considering attending. JMHO.

agreed. i had lower stats than you, but took the time to email the admission officer for my area to demonstrate interest. i was accepted.

I got WL. I certainly have the SATs for Lehigh, but my GPA/CR isn't there. Frankly, I was surprised I did not get rejected but now I'm enthusiastic and optimistic about my chances for acceptance upon the review.

720/670/620 M/V/W with a 740 IIC, 650 Physics, and 590 US History. All of that coupled with a 3.1 GPA and a CR of ~45%. (3.3 Freshman, 2.5 Sophomore, 3.5 Junior, 3.5 Senior. I had some issues Sophomore year which I explained, but I reasoned it wouldn't help because there are applicants who have my SATs AND the GPA without faltering sophomore year, so there is no reason to select me over them, but obviously Lehigh was able to look past that. I am very grateful.)

Now I must find time to visit. Perhaps over vacation, right before Pesach? (yes, I am a Jew).

Lehigh makes it known, even more than other colleges, that demonstrated interest in the college - official visit, on campus interview - carries a lot of weight when they make their decision. Of course they accept students who have never visited, but their number is much lower than those who made the effort to see the campus. Admissions officers have discovered that their yield is much higher among those who have taken the tour, even higher among those who scheduled an interview. In other words, students who see the campus are more likely to select Lehigh as their first choice.

This means that even if you view Lehigh as a safety, you should visit. It doesn't become a safety until after you've had that interview.

i got into the Lehigh/Drexel med program but still haven't received my package (probably coming tomorrow). Good luck to everyone!

Congrats, foodisgood! I wished I had learned about that program earlier than I did. By the time I had learned about it, the deadline for application had already passed. :(

I was waitlisted. However, I do not believe that I will remain on the waiting list. I was surprised, but in retrospect I probably should not be, as I was not able to visit and was never contacted for an interview. Though, I did have contact with the crew coach for some time.

I did not visit or attend an information or campus tour or anything like that and I got in. I randomly decided to apply a few days before the deadline.

Like efg88, I didn't visit at all, and I was accepted.
I wrote an in-depth "why lehigh" essay though.

As I said in my post, you CAN get in without visiting, especially if you are a compelling candidate, but it's more difficult.

Well, my why lehigh essay wasn't anything that stood out, but I did use a lot of specifics from researching their school. I never visited and never had an interview. The only thing I did to show interest was go on their little chats. So even a little interest can get you in.

if you are a great candidate, you will be accepted regardless of visiting or anything else. If you're on the edge, the visit and interview might push you over. I think that is the general consensus.

^^^^^agreed, Lehigh even came to my high school(before I was interested) and I didnt go. The only thing I did was send in an application and I was submitted.

Yeah, I didn't visit either and I got in. But Lehigh did come to my high school and I demonstrated interest then, I guess. The girl was really nice. She even gave me a course catalouge.

if you recieved a scholarship it would say so in the congrats packet.

as far as showing interest, i think lehigh really took notice of those who displayed a real interest in the school. my 4 best friends and i all were accepted but some recieved scholarships while others did not. my one friend with considerably higher credentials recieved nothing, while the other one got a 10,000 a year Dean's scholarship. The latter had visited the campus and e-mailed with questions.

a strong "why lehigh" essay might have been a big factor too. i know i put a lot of work into mine.

LOL. My supplemental essay was such a joke. I wrote about selling burned CDs with pictures of Victoria's Secret supermodels in them. It was so funny.
:-D

my grades (top 15%) and sat (600v,700m,640w) were nothing special at lehigh but i went for an interview, visited the campus 6 months before i applied, and called a few times as well as wrote a very good "why lehigh" essay. the interest defnitely helped, but i did have some decnet xc's
