Admissions website says that they started mailing today, and everything will be out by the 24th

can we check online or do we have to wait for the mail

I don't know of any way online for BC. I'm guessing we'll be waiting.

And the wait is going to kill me.

Best of luck everyone! :)

Why do they do it in batches? Is it just too much mail for the post office to handle at once? (that seems strange for a huge place like boston) Or are they still working on some of them? insert other reasons

I assume they do it in batches because they have to manually insert the acceptance letter into the packet with the housing info then into the envelope. And they dont want to wait until the last day to send everything out at once, divide and conquer, they dont want to make mistakes.

that's really nice that we'll be hearing from them much earlier than last year. good luck to everyone!

Where's it say that??

Upper Right Corner:

"Alert: Decision Letter Mailing

The Office of Undergraduate Admission has begun mailing decisions to our applicants. Due to the large volume of letters being sent, we are not able to mail all letters in one day. Decisions will be sent in no particular order throughout next week with all letters being mailed by March 24th. Decisions will not be communicated via telephone, fax, or e-mail. We appreciate your patience during this time."

YAY!! And the wait begins...

Someone posted on this board that the rejection letters went first last year....i wonder if it is a mixed mailing this year?

supposedly bc says its in no particular order but we'll see

The batches really are mixed. Or at least they were last year... rejections and acceptances on the same day.

That really depends though, were they rejections on the west coast and acceptances on the east? Or were they rejections and acceptances in the same region where there was rarely any difference on the day mail was recieved?

If west coast were the rejections and east the acceptance, the explanation is the time it takes for those letters to get across the country.

Basically, my guess is if on the west coast, any mail before wednesday is probably bad, looking at last years forum messages...

I'm looking for last year messages on this. Does anyone have the thread for this? I thought I recalled that someone from Mass. posted that the first letters out there were rejections for all her friends and that the longer the wait the better.

Here ya go. Same alert on the same day a year ago....

So I went in and looked into the dates for it all. The Letters were first sent Thursday, March 17th 2005. The First rejections that were reported arrived Saturday, March 19th 2005. Rejections and Waitlists remained the only things recieved until Wednesday, March 23rd 2005, when the first acceptance was reported from Massachusetts. There were still reports of Rejections and Waitlists on the day as well. There were 5 acceptances and 1 waitlist on Friday, March 25th 2005. From then after, none reported any waitlists or rejections.

Basically, After Wednesday, chances would steadily increase.

As the notice was put up on a Friday this year rather than a Thursday, I'd imagine the schedule for this year will look like this:

Monday March 20th & Tuesday March 21st 2006 - Mostly reported will be rejections and waitlists, if not all.

Wednesday March 22nd 2006 - Probably still mostly rejections and waitlists. We may see the first acceptance, but unlikely

Thursday March 23rd 2006 - Definitely an acceptance by now. Probably some west coast waitlists still

Friday March 24th 2006 - Increase in acceptances, but probably still not alot.

Saturday March 25th 2006 - Mostly acceptances from here on out

i am so nervous now! all visits to the mailbox by any of my family members are officially over.

hahaha, i love it

That's really helpful, WayyyTooWorried!! Thanks for the info... Please, no letter until after Wednesday...

Assuming that theory of no acceptances till later in the week is correct:

Did all rejections/waitlists go out on Friday, or will they be staggered between Friday-Tuesday/Wednesday?
