Letters of Continued Interest

Do you consider writing letters of continued interest to be brown-nosing?

How effective are they, or do you perceive them to be?

Should you only send them to your first choice, or is it okay to fudge a bit and send one to school 2, school 3, etc.?

In your opinion, what would be some key information to get across in such a letter?

I think that you could update your regional admissions officer on something that you have accomplished since you submitted your application, and then add the fact that you continue to be very interested in the school. You could point out a specific reason that you are interested in the school, too; for example a specific program or activity.

I think it’s only a good idea to write a letter just about continued interest if you were deferred in an early program or waitlisted in regular admissions/decisions. Otherwise, include your interest in an update letter that is truly about important updates.
