I plan to apply to 10 colleges. I plan to get letters of recommendations from several teachers, and administrators.

Please don't tell me that I have to go each teacher with 10 different papers and tell them to write me 10 letters of recommendations for each school.

How do letters of recommendations work? Can I photocopy one and send them to the ten schools? Or does each school need a different one?

You deliver a copy of the appropriate recommendation form (top portion filled out and signed) and envelopes for each school for which that form is appropriate. The envelopes should have the college mailing address filled out and postage on it. The teacher will fill out the one form and then make copies of it for each of the envelopes and then the teacher will mail them.

I mentioned “appropriate recommendation form” because some schools do have their own form that they expect to have used. In those cases then teacher will have to fill out each of those forms separately.

Common app has a form that all common app schools will accept.

I would ask them to write school-specific ones (schools that don’t accept common app) first since those tend to be more specific. Then just have them mold it to fit the commonapp with a few tweaks for each particular school.
