One of the teachers I asked to write me a letter of recommendation says she did so, but it doesn't show up on Naviance. I've electronically sent the request this morning (she informed me she completed it this afternoon), but it still says "in progress". My guidance counselor assures me that it will all work out and that it'll all show up later, but she's been wrong about these things before. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Also, can I send my Common App in before my letters of recommendation? Somebody PLEASE help me out, i'm trying to get most of these applications done in time for Early Action, so most of them need to be in by next month.

Once the teacher uploads the recommendation to naviance, the guidance office has to electronically send it on to the college. Usually they will send a packet all together – transcript, counselor report, teacher recommendation, etc. That recommendation will not get to the college without this action from the guidance office, however!

Not only can you go ahead and send the common application on to the college, you should send it before the rest of the stuff gets there. They won’t look at any of that until they get your application and $$ from Common App.
